A, new tank, looking at powerheads probly 2 or 3, for a 30 gallon.

Are they a plug and play kind of deal, (simply attatch to glass, and they work???

because im reading alot about UGF, (under gravel filters)

Whats the Easiest/Best one to set up

Powerheads are plug n play.

You'll find lots of info to do with UGFs when you look up PHs because you need a PH (or air bubbler) to run a UGF. I hope you aren't thinking of putting a UGF in your tank???

You will need the power heads for water movement. Live rock, sand and water changes for filtration.

I use a plenum under my subrate, basically a UGF, and use a tube riser with a powerhead to get the plenum running, I had the powerhead for about 5 months. This creates a dead space under my substrate that aids in denitrification.

I have done tanks with and without the plenum, the plenum tanks are generally healthier.

No im not planning on adding a UGF, im just saying the boxes on powerheads say alot about some UGF attachment or somehting

Ah gotcha. I have both AquaClear and Maxi-Jet powerheads. The Maxi-Jets are higher quality, and have lots of different attachments you can use for different applications. But the AquaClears are great too, just not so many attachments.
