Purple Hornet Zoas

I just wanted to know where to get some.... ;-) Just kidding. It's been interesting to watch the thread take its twists and turns.

Gary from Reef Pets sold one polyp on eBay last night. $212.50 plus shipping. Prices for a polyp from the original source are still sky high. Meanwhile, back in Agoura Hills, my baby PH is getting a little bigger and stronger all the time...

Okay, I've hijacked your thread enough with sharing the giggles.
Going to quit talking so much now, ....bye. :D

I meant, when did we start labelling polyps with a L.E. Status???

when did anything get labeled as LE. LE means limited edition, which no coral really is, as they kinda tend to keep replicating themselves. till we find a coral that will only grow for a year and then stop forever...

so for our purposes, the purple hornet is without a doubt, the rarest strain of zoanthid I know of... save for maybe the captain america. therefore, Id call it LE. it is limited, and it is an "edition" of zoanthid.

I believe this sight and this forum is for everyone. Whether we agree or not on a topic. I reserve the right for everyone to speak their minds on any issue. Topics which I don't care to engage or disagree with, I can either look away or give a brief reply. The discussion of this polyp, which as I said before has been around for years, just peeked my interest with a comment above so I thought I'd ask you a question areze. ( 1) Did you truly mean the statement above and below when you said this,

" so for our purposes, the purple hornet is without a doubt, the rarest strain of zoanthid I know of... save for maybe the captain america. therefore, Id call it LE. it is limited, and it is an "edition" of zoanthid "

Also, ( 2) do you by chance sell frags of this morph and if so, do you tell potential buyers that this is an LE polyp?

Thanks for your time my friend.

Mucho Reef

Just curious is all.

PS. It just seems like a contradiction when you say in your first paragraph that "no coral is" a limited edition, and yet in the second paragraph you called this polyp a limited edition.

I meant it, or I wouldnt have said it...

Im not sure what you mean by "this morph", you mean purple hornets? either way, Ive never sold a coral. I own a single polyp of purple hornet aquired from a commercial vender about a month ago.

will I end up fragging it way down the road and selling it to local reefers? of course, thats what aquaculture is about, it costs me money to maintain my tank and buy my corals. I dont give things away for free. would be all for trading it though.

will I call it LE? no, its my opinion that it is LE, others can think of it what it is. its well known enough, a picture and a name is plenty I think...

Thanks for the reply.

( 1 ) It's your opinion that the Purple Hornet as it is called, is a LE polyp to you and it is an "edition of zoanthid" but you won't call it that ? ( 2 ) So the LE label is a personal one? ( 3 ) By that I mean, if a polyp has been around for 10 years but I personally have never seen it, I can personally call it LE, even though there is no such thing as a LE coral as you stated above?

Just wanted to understand your opinion on this, thanks.

Why does every zoo thread turn into this nonsense? Fact some people feel alright with purchasing expensive corals some don't. I think this debate has been played out over and over again, When can this stop?

Yes, the morph I was speaking of areze was the PH, sorry.

How about if we change the direction of the thread and have folks with PHs post pics. It would be fun to see everyone's livestock. I would suggest keeping the "that's not really a PH" comments to a minimum. If someone has something close, let them enjoy it without the commentary. I have to figure out how to post pictures on the forum (remember, I'm new at this) but then I'll post one that will give you all a laugh. It's my Reef Pets juvi polyp, still not even recognizable as a PH but you can watch it grow with me as I post progress pics.

Because i'm obsessive compulsive as i explained in a post earlier on the other purple hornet thread.
So i thought i would suggest maybe taking the pictures from that other purple hornet thread, and posting those pics in this thread where you want them.
That way you'll have those pics AND any new pics which people post here, and this one can become your "THE purple hornet thread", and not just another purple hornet thread.
You know?

Anyway just a suggestion, sorry again for possibly hijacking again this evening. *bats eyelashes*
:p

you dont want to understand anything, your not any good at disguising your insults.

Ive stated my opinion already, clear enough, by my definition of limited edition(not yours) I believe the PH is LE, but thats a personal distinction for myself, and would not need to call it that to describe it. If you ask me what LE corals I have, Ill include PH in the list. its simple as that.

if you want to twist words to start a fight, do it with someone else.

otherwise, grow up and stop crapping on threads
