Hi,

Anyone out there that has had good luck with the Purple tennacle anem.? LFS has one for a couple of weeks but not sure if I should even give it a try.

Thanks.

Is it a purple Macrodactyla doreensis or a purple Heteractis crispa LTA?
(See anemone FAQ at the top of this forum for ID help.)
How's the lighting in your aquarium?
Can you describe your aquarium better- what invertebrates are you keeping alive? Do you have a sandbed? Protein skimmer?

It is a Heteractis crispa LTA. I am thinking of putting this guy in my 125 gal reef with mostly SPS corals. I currently have a RBT and that is doing well with a pair of true percs. Pls see below for the specs.

Nitrate < 10
Phosphate 0
Calcium 420
Kh 10
Aqua C 120 skimmer
3 inch sand bed
Dual 250w HQI metal halide
Dual 96watts Actinic
20 gal. refugium

I'm not a big fan of mixing clownfish and/or anemone species in the same aquarium, but I certainly understand the temptations. I think you'll be fine with the purple LTA if you decide to go for it.

The anemone is most likely Macrodactyla Doreensis, not H. Crispa. I own 2 of these purple lta's and 3 more of different colors. They are doing okay. They love the sand and make sure you feed it often. They also seem to require a great deal of light. Here is a pic of one of my purple lta's and my H. Crispa. (sorry, still learning how to post pics.)
