Pyramid Butterfly

I would be ready with a broad spec antibiotic for the very common mouth infections. That seem to plague this fish. I might even preventative oh start treating it now because of how quickly the infection seems to spread.

Just my 0.02.

+1 it would be interesting to see the mouth thing happens with both Hawaiian and Indo... I'm sure it does but if it occurs in one more than the other

A 120g size 4ft would work better that something not as wide, but like everything else in this hobby... Bigger is always better

Ok thanks. Just a standard 4ft 60 gal. LFS has two of them at 2-2.5 inches already eating pellets so I thought it could work. I guess I will pass.

figured i would add my symptoms on this thread,

i just got my pyramids, they all look ok (not eating yet) but look healthy, however the only one eating is smaller and has little black dots on both sides, any ideas?
i already started the prazy dose

thinking of 2 weeks of prazy + 4 weeks of copper

Notice the black dots on the bottom of the belly, both sides are the same (also do you think the white spots on the head are transport injuries?)
at the lfs he was in a mixed tank with VERY aggressive fish

Mine all came in with the blackish splotches on their sides - maybe minor scale injuries? All seemed to heal up fine. None of mine had the white patches on their heads though. Like I've said a few times in this thread, NGP is my initial go-to med for these fish, due to my experience with mouth infections.

for anyone interested (the answer is yes, and i think its recommended) however i seem to be screwed as i cant seem to find it in canada!!!!!!

canada is not reefsafe!

I got my NGP from national fish pharmaceuticals, but no clue of they are able to ship to Canada (sounds not).

I would say another broad spec antibiotic like Maracyn 2 or saltwater Maracyn will do the trick as well. Are they showing signs of infection yet?

Im not sure what to look for, I will post pics soon

I think they are ok but 2 of them are not eating, they are breathing normally

Green and white mysis , flake food, and pellets

One of them is an absolute pig. One of them thats not eating tried to eat poop... yet he wont eat selcon dipped food

If I can't find ngp or marcyn, anything else I can use?
Guessing prazi and copper wont do it incase of a mouth infection

National fish pharm won't ship to Canada I'm guessing. Are you close with a vet? They might be able to look at the product info on Maracyn or NFG powder and provide you with a similar product.

What would you typically use for an bacterial infection?
