Rainy Day Generator- Which would you choose?

Might as well pony up for the Honda eu3000IS, I can tell you the Mrs. would not be pleased to see my tank running on a generator while the refrigerator and/or the heater were off in an extended power outage.

Find something used. I got a 8000watt generator with electric start for 150

This is one of those things you get what you pay for. I've heard the Honda ones are one of the best. You could use this to power your fridge as well in a earthquake disaster. I mean imagine if the power is down for over a week.

I bought a used honda eu1000 on ebay a few years ago to use for tailgating. It has also been used a few times now to power the tank and fridge during long power outages.

Ok so from my exp;

1 honda eu1000 will run my tank and fridge and it's working hard

1 honda eu2000 will run tank and fridge snd computer router working moderately hard

2 honda eu2000 (with parallel kit) will run tank fridge router, computer working with minimal stress

1 Honda eu3000i will run tank fridge computer router and tv working moderately hard

2 honda eu3000i (with parallel kit) will run tank fridge computer router tv few lamps and the microwave working moderately hard.

You can find them used here and there on CL. We have had out eu3000i for about 5 years and run it I would assume 40+ hours a year at least and all we have ever done was replace electric start battery and change the oil. It still runs like a champ and starts on the first pull (that's me just testing). Cody you more than anyone know the saying is you get what you pay for. You can get an ecotech or Tunze (honda/Yamaha). Or jebao (pretty much any other brand). Of course you are going to here a lot of people love the cheap ones but you hear that with jebao. Of course you will here people say honda/Yamaha are expensive but worth it, well I say that about Tunze and ecotech. What would you trust in a time of crisis?

I have one I bought from Costco a few years ago and it has been worth the investment, but it is loud.

I just helped a friend with a new one Costco has on sale this summer for 600 - Runs on propane or gas, electric start 8800watts. Haven't started it yet to hear how loud it is.

The Hondas noise level is worth the money.

Make sure you have the cabling to hook up your necessities. For your tank you need circulation and possibly heat. You want to be able to run your fridge. And at our house we are also set up to run Directv and TVs to get news coverage.

Figure out the lengths you need to power those things and put those cables away.

My Gennie uses about 7-8 gallons in 24 hours. You want to store enough fuel for a couple of days. You need to order a product called Bio-pHor (i think) which you add to the fuel. It's a bacteria that keeps the gas viable for long periods while you store it.

Also pick up a couple of spare spark plugs and keep them in a drawer.

The new propane ones are nice because you can easily long term store the propane tanks.

I don't know how long the gennie can run off a propane tank though.
