RBTA in mp40..Please help

I use salmon flounder scallops shrimp tuna once every three days. I just pick one at random. Normally about the size of a dime-nickle sometimes the size of a quarter depending of the thickness.

But I'm talking about a Ritteri.

Vai....your BTA is small, but very cute ;) and I'm happy for you that you found another to your liking :D

IMO, based on it's size, I would suggest you feed small amounts of mysis shrimp. at this point the nem is still acclimating itself.
Whether or not it is a bleach nem, it does look good IMO and with the right conditions it will return to it's original color whether that's darker or the same...only time will tell

best of luck this time

Thanks guys, yea the nem is very small and the maroon is too darn big for it. Btw I found a guy that will sell me a regular rose nem which is much bigger than mine for $40-50. Am actually going to pick up 3-4 of them! Don't worry I will only keep one. The other one is going into my 72bow and another in my gfs tank and another into a 56gallon nem tank in the making.

I hope the nem stays that color because the thing GLOWS like something out of Avatar!

So I tried a half a pea sized shrimp and the nem held onto it but the let it go. I waited about an hr and tried it again but this time I was able to place it right by the mouth and it grabbed it and I believe it took it in as I did not see it float around or fish eating it.

I stayed at the tank for the next hr just to make sure it was gone and indeed I believe the nem ate. If that is the case, will I see any changes in the nem today as far as coloration, size, length of tentacles, etc or will it just look normal and it's a gradual change?

IMO it sounds like it's still settling it vai....IME a "happy" nem will take food aggressively and not let go (unless theres a high flow of water or some other fish or invert steals it)
I would leave it be for a couple days if it were me.
As for changes, unless it's dying (and I'm not saying it is), changes in color will be gradual, not instant.
How long, I can not say but you will see it over time.

Has it moved at all? They like to be mounted on a rock surface with holes/caves for hiding....post some more pix if so...

regards
C

Thanks, it has not moved much from the spot I put it in. When I got it, it came with black gravel stuck to the foot, enough to anchor it and keep it down as if a stable rock surface. So I placed it on the floor next to the rock you see the nem in (previous pics). It moved to that rock and stayed there. The only flow in the tank is from the return and from the mp40 set at the lowest power and set to pulse at about 2 second intervals.

I will take some pics when I get home of the return and pumps and where it is currently.

Am hoping when I get the larger nem tomorrow, the clown will host that nem and this one will get a chance to be on it's own for a little while. The clown does not host it at all times or anything, but when it does it really snuggles in lol

FWIW, if I may.....it's the anemone that is the host, not the clownfish ;)

yes you are correct cet the anemone does host the clownfish! Btw I got 3 nems and put one in my gfs tank, one downstairs in my 72bow and another upstairs in my 90.

The guy I got them from was pretty gentle taking them off of the rocks they were on using powerheads to make them move (2 hrs to get all 3). He also used his fingers to gently peel them but he ended up busting one open! I did not see that he did that but I guess he prolly knew he tore the nem but didn't say anything. Was my fault for not checking really.

I have the one that was ripped open in my tank here are some pics of it from Saturday morning and some updated pics from yesterday and this morning.

This last pic is from this morning. In the guys tank he had about 50+ nems and none of them had bubble tips. Finally this morning I started seeing some bubbling.

And some random shots of the tank and things I have in it. The box is there holding a green carpet that my friend fragged and am holding it until it recovers.

Yes, but so ugly lol. Btw, I have the sponge cover on the mp40 and the nem has not move much from that corner spot in 2 days (too early to tell yes). After about a week or 2 weeks if it's still there, should I remove the sponge?

Reason for this is because the sponge gets clogged and changes the current/flow of the tank. I don't want the current to change and the nem to get stressed to the point it will move. I would hate to have another incident mp40 vs. nem....

The nem is fully healed! It started to move yesterday from the rock and i was able to see the foot and the whole mouth is intact now!!!

Wonder where it will be later today. I think it moved because the mp40 sponge cover was not cleaned yesterday and it slows down the flow quite a bit. I normally clean it every night but forgot to do so the previous day.

I saw someone post a window mesh screen cover they built for the mp40. Is that okay to be in saltwater? Are there any ready made things I could use instead of the sponge?

It is ok.... but it will still clog. IMO it all depends on what is floating in the water anyway.

I ended up going out and getting 10 extra covers for my 2 mp40's. I just swap them out nightly and wash the other ones.

I was looking at those covers and they are like 25$ each at my lfs. The lfs is just going overboard now. Will check amazon or ebay to see if they have any.

Thanks! Btw update on my bleached anemone. It was stretched out last night and looked much healthier. The color seems to be getting more darker. The white/green/bluish parts are becoming more darker as if it's starting to tan lol

I bought the three pack and just soak the dirty ones in a vinegar solution until I'm ready to use them (shaking and rinsing prior to use). I have bubble algae in my tank, and my emerald crabs have been eating them but some float around the tank, getting stuck in the foam guard. Even so, I don't feel the need to change them daily, every few days works best for me. I have my MP40 set above what I would normally set it -- this way even if the flow diminishes I have longer time before needing to swap out the guard.

You can goto lowes and buy the fiberglass screens they use for gutter guards and use mini zip ties to tie to the mp10/40/60 that way it doesnt restrict the flow as much as the darn foam guards that came with my vortechs.
