redtop03's 360 gallon plywood adventure

I don't know how I'm gonna do this,I don't have anywhere else that the 150 will fit,so I can set it back up until the 360 is ready

thought about moving it out in the middle of the room, but it'd still be in the way,so I don't know what to do

Willie, Got my glass in today. All I can say is that is one heavy piece of glass. Made me rethink how i'm going to actually get it in the tank

thats one step closer but that was almost the last step in mine :)
it ain't gonna be easy getting it in there,if you could find 2 pair of the suction cups,it might make it a little easier.....what size is yours glass?

I drained the 360 and washed and rinsed the inside of it today, its ready to come in the house now.......the house ain't ready for it though

you have your hands full out there.

The glass is Starphire 114" x 36" x 1/2"

sweet....the invisibly glass....yeap thats a heavy piece of glass.....20" longer and 12" taller than mine...yours is a little more than 50% heavier than mine.....well maybe not mine had more iron  .......it took 2 of us to handle mine and it wasn't easy

man...I'd love to help you build that thing....I can't wait until you start
you're gonna have an awesome tank :D

I wish you could help. I can't wait to start either, I think my wife is tired of hearing me say "I'm ready to build the aquarium :)

you've got less than 6 month before Christmas,if you mess up her decorations you'll be sleeping with the fishies

pretty much everything except the glass :(

I plan on ordering the epoxy and fiberglass next week. I've been trying to get my material list fine tuned.

I think my wife is showing a little more excitement now that the glass is in. She usually doesn't have much interest in the aquariums, but she's been asking questions today. May be a good sign, maybe I can get my allowance increased :)

my tank would have been more fun if the wife had have been more interested in it,during the build.......she has shown more interest in it since its about ready to come in the house......its more a reality now to her.....I think, before,to her,it was another one of my crazy ideas, that wouldn't work

do you have access to 10' plywood,or are you gonna splice the 8' stuff?

are you gonna do the fiberglass epoxy and tint the final layer of epoxy or use the sweetwater paint for the color?

   I see you're from Tennessee,so you know how that works in my part of the country.......there not on the same post but you could stand at one and spit on the other:lol:

in the town i lived before moving to the big city of nashville, there was a similar sign layout. 20ft after the "now entering..." sign there was a speed limit sign that dropped the speed limit down 20mph & a nice line of trees where the local constable (city too small for a police force LOL) would sit & pop off speeders

b-ville does have a police department, not very big though.....I am actually about 12 miles from b-ville city, but we have that address too,our community had a constable, but he was arrested for cultivating marijuana

That sounds just like my wife. Just rolling her ideas at another crazy idea.

I'm going to use 8' sheets spliced. Going to double the plywood, stagger the joint on the two layers and glue the layers together.

I'm going to use fiberglass and epoxy covered with sweetwater. I found a 100 yard roll of fiberglass cloth for $120, so I plan on multiple layers

that is a female thing,:)........that should work, thats the way kent at fingerlakesreef did his 1000g,on the 2 layer plywood......if you do the pour method on the epoxy, you'll have a lot nicer looking finish, the more fiberglass the stronger,........spray the sweetwater or roll it on....don't look too bad either way :)

I now have my 120 set back up and have moved everything but the sand and 20 or so gallons of water, from the 150....when I get all that cleaned out I be ready to move the 150...my back is killing me :( but almost ready to move the 360 in :D

well the tank and stand are in the bed of my truck, ready to be carried in if I can find some able bodys to help :D

I loaded it by myself, but I don't think I will ever do that again....oh my back...

I don't know what happened to the last pic,its got part of my aquarium in it

that right,I hate to hang lights every year, those have been up for 5 or 6 years, but they're starting to come loose, staples are rusted I guess :)

the tank is in the house, already had its first critter in it.....my baby girl, insisted she get in it first

I had some water left over after moving everything from my 150 to my 120,so to keep my sand alive,I put it in the tank along with the left over water, and added 2 powerheads.....in the process of moving the stand we managed to break the glass in my 30g,so all the rock that was in it is also in the tank.....lost about 15 gallons of water,in the floor, big mess.....now I've got to get my ro/di filter mounted and hooked back up so I can start making saltwater again
