Reef Brite LED's - Now Taking Orders!

Alex, that's great! Thanks for sharing. I really like your idea about the brackets as to not have to drill into the fixture.

Unless someone announces a nice T5/hybrid soon, this looks to be the way I'm going to go.

Alright here's how I attached my reefbrites to my 6x24 sunpower.

All I did was but a couple of pieces of aluminum at the hardware store and bend them against a 2x4. Then I drilled holes in the ends and bolted the reefbrites on. This way it just rests on top of the sunpower and I didn't have to screw anything into the fixture.

Looks really nice. How's the shimmer? Which LEDs did you get? all blue, blue/white, all white? What's your current bulbs in your SP?

My setup is 2 x 12" reefbrites all blue and the sunpower has 3 ati blu+, 1 x fiji purple. 1 x uvl actinic white, 1 x ati true actinic.

The shimmer is really nice with just leds it's got a really intense shimmer, with two t5's running there is a subtle shimmer, and with four t5's running there is only a hint of shimmer visible. I mostly added the leds for the fluorescence in the corals, the shimmer is a just an added perk.

Any updates on when Reef Brite will be releasing the larger transformers and splitter cables - so that you can run multiple 4' strips off one transformer? Joy mentioned 4-5 months ago they were working on it but did not know if anything has come out of it yet.

What watts is your SP?

Still no info at this time, I apologize. Once Joy has more info I will be sure to post it.

Variable Power Supply Update

Variable Power Supply Update

I've just received an update on the new variable control (dimmable) power supplies. These will be releasing mid March, price to be determined still. They will all be backwards compatible with all of the existing ReefBrite LED modules, have 0-10v input for control through a controller, as well as have manual control right on the side. Once we have pricing I will post back here on them.

Did the bracket cover the fans or the exhaust outlets on the fixture?

Do you have detail info for this? What max each Led can be driven ? Still 1.25W or can be driven up to 3w?

Wow Jeremy that sounds great, I will be looking forward to this as well as if they will be able to be driven higher than the 1.25w.

I do have a question in regards to my ReefBrite setup. I have a 90 gallon mixed reef (in the making) and am running 1x 50/50 and 1x Actinic Blue with a 4 T5 fixture. I plan on going all ReefBrite and looking to go with 2 more strips. I would like a 14-15k look, how would this look in order:
Actinic Blue
50/50
White
Actinic Blue

Do you think 4 would grow and keep color on SPS?

Thanks in advance,
Wesley

The new power supply will still drive each LED at 1.25w /ea. I am not yet able to comment on the new RB's coming out, but will in the near future. Please note that the current style is not being discontinued, and will still be offered.

@Wesley, I think 4 would be able to keep and grow sps, just depending on the depth of the system. You will have more success in 15" - 20" of water, than what you will in 24" - 30" of water. The setup you're going for should look pretty good!

Since still being run @ 1.25, what is the benefit to having dimmable power?

Would the color of the proposed set up give a 14-15k look?

With the dimming you can ramp them up and down via a 0-10v controller, simulating a true sunrise / sunset affect, or even put in moon phases with them.

The mix you mentioned above would give you a 14k look.

Hi Jeremy, I know you have answered an incredible number of personal tank ?'s regarding reef brite (I've read the entire thread, all 16 pgs), but i do have another that I could use your professional assistance with. Ive got a 46 g (36"x~15"x~18") mixed reef that needs new lighting. I am thinking of using reef brite as my main lighting source, and am thinking i could really use 3 x 36" RB (2x 50/50 and 1xblue?) but budget is allowing for 2 right now. Can i get by with 2 x 36" reef brites until i am ready for another? If so, which ones? Was thinking 1x50/50, 1xblue for now until i add the other 50/50.

I also have an old 36" t5 2x21 strip that i havent used in years, but am thinking of replacing the bulbs with 10000k or actinic if needed. This is an order that needs to be placed as soon as possible, just need a bit of guidance. Thanks again for all your insight!

looking to add an all blue on the opposite side... just waiting for them to be dimmable...

I think the 1 x 50/50 and 1 x blue would be a good start for you to see how you like it. It's going to be a little more on the blue side, but I still think you would be happy with it. You could also try 1 x white and 2 x blue to see how that looks.
