Reefbreeders/(Evergrow OEM) Fixtures D120/IT20** series

+1 to what bhazard said. I got 3 D120's, an IT2040 and 2 IT 2080's. I've had them for 10 weeks now and they all work just fine. I have a new, EXACT duplicate of the EG D120 from SunSun and it has noisy fans! I had an Eco Tech Radion and it was hot as well. I sold it as I like the IT2040 better. Especially at $245 vs $750. It runs cooler, cover more square footage, has just as good or better PAR, is easier to adjust settings (you don't need a computer)... oh, and it costs about 1/3 the price if you can find a group buy.

Have you even read this thread? The EverGrow lights are not able to be run by any reef controller! If I were you, I'd get 2 EverGrow IT2040 (aka. Reef Breeders Photon 16).

Yes and no, I was not taking notes my big concern was point one and two and the third was MAYBE so I guess 3 is out no big deal. Thanks for the recommendation.

Has anyone had any luck running the Photon 16 on a nano setup? I have a nuvo 16g I want to try hanging this bad boy over. Would I need to place this light fairly close to the water so the light doesnt spread too much over such a small tank?

I have a 47 1/2"L x 18 1/2"W x 25 1/2"H tank. I'm interested in giving the reefbreeder fixture a try. I'm currently running a AquaticLife T5 HO 6-Lamp Light Fixture w/ 3 ATI blue plus, 2 ATI coral plus, 1 ATI purple plusand my tank is mixed Reef. So what light will work the best

I have a D120 that seems to have gotten the channels mixed up. Two of my three fixtures have the channels set up where one channel is all blues and the other is white/colors. For some reason my third fixture has it setup where 1 channel is half blue and half white/colors and the other channel is the same. Thus I can't ever run just whites/colors or just blues which makes 1/3 of my tank look different from the other 2/3.

Does anybody know if there's an easy fix for this? I don't want to send it in and have to move all my SPS from that section of the tank :(

Thanks!

Are the light patterns the same ? Not much info but it sounds like the same layout was used but with you got a combination of both a 28 - 27 and a 30 - 25 circuit booards. If so they should send a replacement fixture as it was a factory mistake if that was not what you ordered. Direct EverGrow order or via Reef Breeders?

It was an evergrow group buy. The first of three that I've done, I just hadn't set them up and messed with the channels until I had them over my tank. I'll email them tonight and see what they can do, I can't be without the light for any period of time. Then again I've arranged about 10k worth of group buys, so maybe they can send me a new one...

Thanks for the advice :D

Coming directly from EverGrow all mine (5 D120's) have a sticker with a different serial number. I would send that number along with a picture of the fixture with only one channel turned on. They should be able to check their records easy enough. Also, your invoice from Sunny (Helen or ??) should show the instructions of what CB they should have used for all three of the fixtures. I would be surprised if you have any problem getting it replaced - still within the warrantry period.

I just emailed her, hopefully they just send me a new one ;)

I'm looking at a pair of photons for a standard 90 with center brace (48x18x24). I've read all 19 pages and can't find a pair of images on such w the 16 and 24 models. Its most likely to be mixed reef, for now. I may do more sps later but no promises. There is the possibility of going to a 60" long tank in the future but its a far off maybe currently.

I plan to hang the fixtures probably 8" above. Would 90 degree be appropriate or would it welcome a spotlight effect with the light source 30" above the sand assuming I'm at 2" or less depth for sand?

It seems removing optics or at least using 120's on anything not blue/white is the accepted "best look", is that right?

Lots of questions but I'm torn on these or just continuing with a DIY build and the makers led heatsink with roughly 100 Cree leds. Cost of the fixture is going to be about the same but I wouldn't have a controller with DIY.

I am currrently working on re-starting 250 gallon acrylic project and am looking for some suggestions. Here is the top of my tank for reference.

My question is, should I put the appropriate size LED fixture over only the three opening cut into the top bracing or have them over the bracing as well? Plan to have this tank be SPS heavy along with Clams on the sand bed.

Thanks for any thoughts!!!

Tough call. If it goes through the acrylic without any significant light loss (it should), then two 32" units might be best.

I'm thinking (2)Photon32's spaced about 5" apart hung parallel to the 4' sides.

Which optics would be best? I'd really like the ability to keep clams in the sandbed so I know the PAR has to get down lower so likely 60 or 90 but I'm not sure how to make that call.

Opinions? Concerns?
