Reefbreeders/(Evergrow OEM) Fixtures D120/IT20** series

200DD (48x36x27)

I'm thinking (2)Photon32's spaced about 5" apart hung parallel to the 4' sides.

Which optics would be best? I'd really like the ability to keep clams in the sandbed so I know the PAR has to get down lower so likely 60 or 90 but I'm not sure how to make that call.

Opinions? Concerns?
That should be fine as long as you don't mind not keeping SPS on the outer edges. The 32" fixture will only cover roughly 44" x 20" for SPS. If you want 100% SPS coverage, you will need to go with 4 fixtures.

So you're saying the 32" fixture has a "footprint" of 44"x20" that is capable of SPS care?

If that's the case, I'm only lacking ~4" between the two outside walls which means 2" on either side. My plan for scaping is to do 3 bonsai style columns staggered diagonally from front left to right rear.

This style will leave a lot of open space so I won't have corals near any edges of the tank anyway.

I noticed on the website that says they're out of stock. Any idea of when they will be in stock?

"How's it hanging" .........

"How's it hanging" .........

For anyone interested in buying these fixture I believe they will be doing another group buy next month.......

Question for anyone who has the value fixture...I ordered a value fixture in the group buy for Reefcentral members last week. It is to be hung over my Solana Cube (20" x 20" x 20"). Approx. how high would I be hanging this above the water? Also for the bracket to hang this from how far apart is the hardware on the fixture? I'm building the base cabinet for the tank. Was thinking of using closet hardware from Home Depot to hang it from.

Thanks, Bill

Thanks for the reply bhazard. Going to have to think about it some more, I just wondering if moisture will collect in the bracing area and "block" the light. When the time comes I might just have to buy a large fixture and give it a try.

Thanks again!!

Having run an acrylic tank for many years I can assure you that moisture will collect there and so will green moisture/light loving algae and eventually calcium/carbonate. That being said, I would still go with bhazards advice along with an aggressive cleaning regimen. Probably the best you can do given the size of the openings outside of 4 big halides. Halides tend to discolor acrylic though (Haze)

Edit:

After thinking about it (if it were me), I would also consider taking a router to the top of that tank and enlarging the openings using a template. I'd run it by ACRYLICS on the DIY forum first though to get a professional opinion based on how the tank is constructed and the thickness of the material. Don't want floppy gunwale's LOL

Hi all

I have just purchased a Photon 32 from Reef Breeders for my new (and future) tank. I know after reading that these lights can't be controlled by a Reef Angel/Apex due to the kind of drivers used. I was just curious about the WHY on that. And if (in the far far future) I wanted to have control over these with my reef controller, would it be as easy as swapping the current drivers with new Meanwell-P drivers (or similar) to achieve this?

Not looking for any of this immediately, as I love the built in controller for my current situation. Just looking to the future also.

Thanks

I'm a little confused as the the optics as well on the Photon 32. I'm trying to cover a 48x24x24 mixed reef tank. Do I order the "4' Tank optics layout (default)" or one of the other optic options? Is 12" above my water line going to be a good starting point for the Photon?

Edit: Nevermind, Logan just sent me an email. Will be placing my order tomorrow morning.

So what did you end up ordering? I ordered the 32 with 4ft optics for a 75g. Keep wondering if I should go with two 16's.

I will be ordering the same as you. Logan suggested keeping my sps in the middle 36" of the tank and the light 8-10" off the water line. I was about to order a couple of the new Kessil 360w plus an Apex Jr. when I found out about this line of lights. For 1/2 the price of 2 Kessils it's worth a shot. My biggest dilemma is building some type of aluminum frame above my tank to hold this. I'm moving from a wooden canopy with 2-250 watt MH and 4-65 watt PC and I don't want to use the wooden canopy anymore.

Cool, he pretty much told me the same thing. I like that he doesn't try to up-sell. I was ready to buy 2 Photon 16's but he said the 32 would be enough. Saves me $200!

I have 2 it 2080 and i have a problem with the clock of both they run not the same.Every day there is a difference of a few seconds? Is there a way to solve this problem?
Many thanks
Frank

Has anyone had to replace one of the fans? one of mine is starting to make noise if so what fan can i replace it with.

I would contact Reef Breeders. Even if you didn't get it from them I'm sure they would offer up some suggestions.

Pull the fan and get the part number off of it. You can find the same (or better) fans on Amazon. I did that with a fan out of an Aqua Medic MH. Aqua Medic wanted $45 for a replacement, I found the exact same fan on Amazon for $12 and a quieter fan (they show dB levels) for $15. Four screws and 2 spliced wires later and my fixture was better than new.

Am I the only one with this problem :deadhorse1:
