from you guys that have them, which one do you like better? i was going to get the aquaconnect 14k bulb, but it gonna be like two more weeks before they are available, so i think i just decided to go with a reeflux. I already have the Lumenarc mini reflector and the reef fanatic 250 watt E-ballast.

So, from your experience, which of the two do you like better? 10k or 12k? thanks in advance.....
matt soule

oh yeah, light will be un-supplemented with actinics....

The 12K's have much more blue to them then the 10K reeflux. I would guess the appearance would be closer to the Aqua Connect bulbs.

I ran the 10ks on Coralvue Electronic ballasts.. IMO they were WAY too yellow.. I called the guy who sold them to me, he said these new bulbs didnt need any burn in time, that the actual color was the one once the bulbs were fired..I dont know if thats true or not..so i decided to try the 12Ks..Im still waiting for them..

I have a 10K on a standard magnetic ballast. White as can be with no yellow. I prefer the white look to the blue look.

I am running 12k on m58 ballast. Only had the bulbs a week, but they are too blue for my tastes, but I don't need the actinic. It is a good look, not as blue as the evc 14k imo.

I haven't seen the 12K's but I put the 10K back in the box after a few days. It wan't yellow as far as 10K's go but the pukey pink killed it for me. That was on a Reeffanatic ballast.

FWIW I had a Reeflux blow in just 12 weeks. Also of the two I bought, one was more yellow than the other. I'm not sure if too many others have had these or any other problems...

I have been using the reeflux 10 K's since last December. I am using the 175 watt version and not 250's though. I run them on a standard M57 ballast and they are very white and not yellow at all. My SPS have been coloring up nicely as well since December. I switched from 14 K Hamiltons which have horrible PAR in 175's. Growth and color much better now. I just which I could find the actual PAR #'s on the 175 watt Reeflux.

No experience with the 250's but I thought you might like the input anyway. I am happy with the 175 watt version of the Reeflux 10 K's and can only imagine I would feel the same about the 250's.

If you ever come to pic up your frags you can take a look at my 10k. ;)

I haven't seen any PAR numbers on the 12k, but it's pretty standard for 12k's to be much dimmer than 10k's

I just got my 12Ks today..do they need burn time? The guy who sold them to me said these new reeflux dont need any. The color so far is very crisy...we'll see what they turn out to be..

I've tried both the 10k and the 12k on magnetic ballast. The 10k's were yellow/pink BLEH! I love the 12k's though. They are Radium-like blue and all colors really pop under them. I stopped using my VHOs.

I got 250w Reeflux 10k's on an HQI ballast and they are VERY bright white with no hint of yellow at all. Now these are bulbs with less than 4 hours on them but look pretty sharp.

My new ReefFanatic e-ballasts will be here Monday, so the 10k will look a 12k'ish color according to Sanjay's site.

Here is a comparison on the HQI ballast between a 20k Radium and the 10k Reeflux

You can really see how much more intense the 10k's are compared to the Radium.

i have a reeffanatic ballast as well, so will the 12ks look too blue?

elephen, i saw that you said the 10ks will have a bluish hue to them on the reefanatic....how much bluer do you think the 12ks would be? thanks....
