Ray, I'm not sure if you can change just the tubing size or if you have to change the roller size also, I asked the women that answered the phone, she said " no, the pump is really cheap though", I would like to try it though. I chose ac just because everthing else is ac, at a second look, the dc powered ones say variable rate but they also list a drip rate, so which is it?, I'm not sure.

BTW, still 33 ml/min 2 days later!!

WOW!!, it just blows me away why are you guys spending an extra unnecesary $95 bucks when a simple needle valve gets the job done for me.

I did the mod that Jorge has suggested tonight on my reactor. In case anybody is interested, here's how the single chamber unit looks after the modification.

Sure thing Rebels ,I hope the pic shows up I don't know where you be able to get this valve as it came out of my old ventury skimmer it was used to adjust the air intake, maybe try Mc-master carr.com?

Home depot. Like 3 for $2.00. In the sprinkler section.

Thanks Scott. It would make sense that the DC pumps are variable. Just like how DC fans are variable. So the faster you can run the pump, it will increase the effluent output? The drip rate they list is probably the minmum it runs at?

phishlet, thanks for posting that pic, it is very helpful? How was the mod?

John, did you really do Jorge's mod? From the pic, it looks like you just added the valve at the output of the effluent.

Yeah, thats Jorges mod. Just putting the valve at the bottom elbow of the reactor and putting a bleedline up top.

And BTW, went to bed with the effluent at 45-50ml/minute. Woke up and it was 23ml/minute.

cgh, because the needle valve did not help me, I'm tired of spending time and money with no result.

Ray, that makes sense!!

JG1, I just took off the needle valve from the reactor inlet, screwed in a 1/4" JG fitting and used clear flexible airline tubing from the pump to the reactor, I'll post some pics. BTW, I only used airline with the JG fitting because there is no pressure, I'm not sure if your supposed to use the airline with a JG, no leaks though.

BTW, just checked again, 33 ml/min:D

JG1 - I see now, you have the reactor with the uni-seals, so I didn't see the valve as it is facing horizontally on the bottom. :D Bummer with the effluent rate. Could your min-jet not be applying enough pressure?

Scott - What is that other John Guest with white tubing in your pic? Kalk reactor? RO/DI?

Anyone - I noticed on my Reeffanatic regulator, the left guage doesn't show any pressure, and on the right guage, it only goes up to 1 kg/cm2 (or 15 on the brown dial reading) on the white dial reading. Is that too low??? Could tat affect my effluent rate pressure wise?

I'm not sure. Jorge just emailed me and told me to open the valve so it's get back up to 50ml/minute. I did that so I'll see what happens. If it keeps doing this I'm just going to order that pump and be done with it. This is becoming a PITA.

Ray, it's from my top off tank

It sounds to me like your c02 tank is empty, the guage on the left is for tank pressure the one on the right is output pressure. My left side guage reads 50, right side reads 1, both on the white part. Will not effect effluent rate only c02 rate.

Scott

Hmmmm, but my CO2 is coming out ok. It has been like that since day 1. Is there a knob on the regulator I am suppose to set? I just figured the pressure of the CO2 affected the pressure in the reactor somehow.

Sounds like you have a NG guage then. If there is no valve on the reactor output, then there is no pressure in the reactor. JMO

Scott

John, sorry to hear that. So even with the mod, your effluent drops? Anyone else do the mod? How are you doing with it so far? Would putting a higher re-circulation pump kep the pressure higher or putting less media in the chamber?

Here is a pic of my JG valve an d apic of my regulator. Mt effluent has stayed at about 40 - 44 ml for two days now.

Yep :(.

Jorge said my feed pump may not be strong enough, but I don't have any more time or energy to screw around with this any longer so I'm just gonna have to drop the $90 to get that doseing pump.

And then i'll be done with it.....
