I increased the bubble count this AM to 60 bubbles per minute. The bubble count was currently about 50-54 bubbles per minute and the ph was right at about 7. So I'm hoping the extra bubbles will allow the ph to drop below the 7 mark.
60 bubbles per minute seems like a lot though doesn't it?

I'm running very close to 60 BPM, but also close to 60 ml/minute. The ph effluent hovers around 6.7 to 6.8.

Rebels, that's what I did to mine since day one ,since my reactor is about 5ft away from the sump it's easier for me to control the effluent flow at the sump and it's working fine ever since

cgh38, that sounds great!!! So you are basically controlling the flow with two valves like I am. So you do not experience any slow down whatsoever?

phishlet, I was running close to 60BPM also, and my effluent PH never went below 6.7

not at all rebels, the effluent is set at 30ml/minute I check it every 3 days since it's been set -up and it's not slowing down at all so far .

Hey Guys,

Sorry, my camera ran out of batteries, but this si the type of valve I got at Home Depot. It is about $5.99.

I'll post a pic as soon as I get my camera back up. I think it did drop from 44ml to 40ml a minute. And then I messed with something and it went to 36ml a minute.

So I have opened the input valve full blast right now, and will see again in a few days. Currently it is at 40ml a minute.

cgh38, do you have a pic of your setup? No luck with my experiment, I was stable for like 3 days and then id dropped from 44ml to 40ml to 32ml, to 24ml...etc.

Sure thing Rebels ,I hope the pic shows up I don't know where you be able to get this valve as it came out of my old ventury skimmer it was used to adjust the air intake, maybe try Mc-master carr.com?

OK, well I just got my peristaltic pump 2 days ago. Plugged it in, ran some hose to it and checked the output, it was supposed to be 29 ml/min, it tested at 33 ml/min 2 minutes after plugging it in, checked it a few hours later, 33 ml/min, checked it 24 hours later, 33 ml/min. this is all with no ball valves to adjust or needle valves, the only downfall is if the calcium demands go way up, I may have to add another pump, you can change the bubble rate though for small adjustments. The place I got mine from can set it up for whatever rate you choose. I'll post a follow up in a few days.

I did the reactor mod yesterday, so I'll let you guys know what happens. The efluent slow'd down a tiny bit last night, but JORGE said in the directions that the reactor has to pressurize and that may be normal, but it should hold a steady effluent rate from this point on. We'll see.

Scott, which pump did you end up getting?

cgh38 - That valve looks like the valves used on drip sprikler systems. I have a few in the garage that I got from Lowe's.

cgh38, yea it doesn't look like that mod will work for me. :( You clear effluent line, is that 1/4" or 3/8" tube?

kraz4reefs - do you have a pic of the pump? Is it really big?

JG1 - did you just add a valve at the effluent end or did you do Jorge's mod? If you did Jorge's mod, was it easy? Messy? Did you create a "bleed line" also?

Thx

Yeah, did Jorge's mod. Wasn't hard at all...a little messy, but didn't take too long. Yeah did the bleed line also.

After talking with Jorge he had me set my effluent rate to 45-50ml minute as this should help keep a more stable flow. I'll see in 24 hours if it holds.

Rebels, the tubing is the same one that came with the reactor is connected to the main ball valve that everyone is having problems with, I have that valve opened all the way.

JG1, I got the DP-201-110, rated at 29 ml/min, mine puts out 33 ml/mim, cost me $92.00 with the shipping. I hope for this amount, this ends my problems forever.

Rebels, the pump is very small, about the size of a computer mouse, I'll post a picture tonight.

Ray, here it is, check out the plug on the end of the cord, shows how big the pump is, BTW, it doesn't come with a very long cord or plug, I had to add it.

Sweeeeeeet!!! So do you think you could change the drip rate by changing the tubing? Why did you choose AC over DC power?
