Yep. It's a pita to scrape on glass especially when I get lazy and let it go for a bit. Can't imagine a large acrylic tank .Is that what the 8 ' tank in your sig is? If so ,man thats got to be a double whammy pita.
I remember the first little spot I found in the front glass of my 72. It was like the first time I tasted beer (although its tough to remember being 3 years old).
I can't grow the stuff to save my life. tank is 10 months old and not even a dot on the glass. Bases of powerheads? sure. plastic overflow box? kinda not really. On the rocks? <0.5% coverage. Glass of anykind? forget about it.

well I'm sure you already know corallines have a natural affinity for growing on plastics. And you need to keep Mg up. How about strontium? Have you researched Sr?
If it wasn't for coraline, I wouldn't have to clean my glass as often. I go after it once a week on the front and side panes. It's easy when it's just starting but can be difficult if I let it go.
Adam, have you seeded any in from live rock or a friend's tank. As I'm sure you know, various coraline species respond to differnt lighting levels . Some does much better in low light ;some high , etc.
Hey tom, I have tried seeding with a couple of different rocks, but none of them were from tanks with comparable light levels. The species in there might not like the light. Hopefully it'll be different with the new tank. I'll keep trying
