Rhomboid Wrasse Buoyancy Issues

I had a rhomboid wrasse for over a month and yesterday it started swimming funny. It's unable to keep it balance and when it's not swimming across the tank for food it's floating with its head up. I searched for these symptoms on RC and every thread is unfinished meaning there is no update to whether the fish survived. My guess is that they didn't.

Has anyone had success with rhomboids or other wrasse surviving this issue.

Had a Lineatus that had swimming bladder problems. I tried multiple things to help him but it only prolonged his death.

Sorry to hear on such a gorgeous wrasse.

I had the same thing affect all of my fairy wrasses too but none of my other fish; some of which I had for months, but they all eventually succumbed to the same thing. I personally think it was some type of infection or virus's that was transmitted. It's just a very slow death for them

I haven't had a fairy wrasses in my tank for a couple of months now. I'm about to reintroduce them to see what happens.

Its very difficult to diagnose this in the beginning stages. As it seems, they last a month or 2 and then it shows up, which would be past the normal decompression issue, and would become an internal infection. I would maybe start treating all deep water fish with erythromycin. Its almost impossible to catch this early.

Where do I got erythromycin? I searched swim bladder last night and kanaplex kept popping up, has anyone tried it?

I have had several wrasses do this. My secret to healthy fish is small amounts of metronitozole in their food at all times. It's amazing how many diseases and parasites it helps to avoid. When I first started using it it saved my melanarus wrasse who had a swim bladder problem. Give it a try it at least is something you can do. U will need focus as well as the metronitozole to mix into the food and u may need garlic to get them to eat it

I had lost a few Rhomboid and Lineatus to swim bladder problem. Some will be fun in my tank for about a month and then started having swim bladder problem all of a sudden, they usually die within 1-2 weeks. I had tried most of the remedies I can find online, but none helps.

Here's some info I found on National Fish Pharmaceuticals.

Where do you find this stuff and how do you prepare the food with the metronitozole?

its actually metronidazole(flagyl is the brand name) and its a broad spectrum antibiotic with many many uses. in humans its commonly given for uti's along with fluconazole(diflucan is the brand name) and mainly bacterial infections. i can see where it would be beneficial to be given to fish but over a long period of time it could lead to stomach problems, i.e. loss of appetite/not eating and or diarrhea and possibly toxicity that would lead to many neurologic problems. now i am not disagreeing with the usage of metronidazole at all, but not for an extended period of time

I would first dose any new wrasse in qt over a 4-6 week period and then watch that fish for some time afterwards and then go from there

Is API EM Erythromycin Powder Packets the same as National Fish Pharmaceuticals Erythromycin Powder? My LFS sales API EM Erythromycin Powder Packets and says it won't help with swim bladder so what is the difference between the 2?

I have been using Seachem Paragard in the QT until I get Erythromycin Powder, firgured it couldn't hurt.

My LFS told me about lancing and says its the only sure way to correct swim bladder. I'm not familiar with lancing nor do I feel comfortable with it. Has anyone done this with success or at least heard of it? Video from reefbulders:

Google: Swim bladder lancing video shows simple procedure to correct down-swimming fish

I guess I can't post links
