Just waiting to get a $500 frag pack from you!!!!! but i know you'll be short for a bit since the swap is coming around.

BTW do you have a par meter?

Hi Dan,

I have followed your thread for a while and amaze what you down for the tank right now !!
Congratulations for the TOTM...

I do notice from the other thread that you had experience the seriuos problem of burning tip before. Would you mind share your experience to me (My tank is exactly under such situation) and how to cure the SPS and how you re-build your current tank with high KH (9) without any burn tip situation. Appreciated!!

Thank you,I appreciate the nice comments from everyone

Oh yes on the burnt tips.I assume the use of excessive GFO and or bacteria dosing was the cause for me.It happened while I was running vodka and microbactre.I tinkered with a few types of bacteria driven methods and then returned back to my previous means of nutrient control.I use a refugium and GFO and it seems more controllable and less harsh on the corals for controlling phos and nitrate. This and large water changes.

The way I stopped the tip damage was to remove the bacteria dosing, start the refugium back up with fresh macro and do weekly water changes. The tips healed and new growth is now taking place

Dan,

It's really happy that I hear the same idea. Actually, I have been knocked down by this issue for few times. Your commend is like the light for me on the dark room.
Sorry, I need to go further details...."the excessived GFO"; I do control my pho with GFO but when it lower than 0.05ppm and start to burn tip, so how low is the suitable!!??
Are you still use vodka for the nitrate control.... which is also I believe the cause!! What do you think!!

Thank you so much!!

When you decided to stop vodka dosing, did you just stop dosing cold turkey or did you slowly reduce the dosage over a period of weeks? - I too had better results before vodka dosing and am trying to figure out the best way to stop vodka dosing and start GAC and Phos again.

Beautiful tank...belated TOTM congratulations!

Sorry I didnt see your posts.
No vodka or bacteria dosing.Just a refugium with macro, harvested weekly and large water changes.

Thanks,I really stopped cold turkey but added a large bail of chaeto from an established system and did weekly 25 % WC.

When I look back at photos from 2 years ago before I tried the gamet of systems I get a bit sick.My stuff looked way better and grew faster before I tried to excessively lower my phosphate and nitrate.I do not run GFO anymore either presently and my colors are getting better daily

nice additions

Thanks,I am no big LPS fan but this favia is sweet. Not a very good photo but it has some real unique colors in person.Neon blue with chartreuse green.Hope it keeps its color.

Now you need a bigger tank...

No NO,I do not need bigger, lol
I am working my a$$ off every weekend trying to keep the several tanks I own now up to snuff so I am at my physical and time limits right now.I will try to weed out some of the more ordinary corals and some rock to buy some space. And of course a good fragging event will buy me some more space.
