4 tubes of NO bubls at a depth of 6 inches ( tank is about 10 sq ft)
3 6.5 k GE bulbs and one hagen actinic bulb
no photoshop ( altho camera usualy adds a slight red tint.. )
anyways tree man while oyu are right some LFS pay alot for somthing
the mjority of the time they DONT and just have a huge markup.

I think you mean Blue Seas Aquarium on the SW corner of University and Sunrise Blvd?
I picked up a nice big rock of green zoas there.
There's another etail operation, who shall remain nameless, on University near Sunset Strip with a really bad rep and super high prices so I don't think you mean that one.
Btw, Chris, I like those much better than the two frags of Tubs blues I recently bought.
Save me a frag of them when you grow them out.

I couldn't agree more, Matt. While trying to sign up commercial sponsors for the frag swap, I've had more than one store say to me "I thought FMAS hated us", based completely off of comments that get posted to this forum.
Everyone may not realize it, but several of the shops do monitor this forum, even if they're not posting. When you bad-mouth a store, they perceive it as the whole club bashing their store, not just an individual. This makes them MUCH less likely to want to support our club's activities, and we NEED those commercial members and sponsors to pull off events like the frag swap.

Thank you Jeff, i couldn't agree more. I tried to get two sponsors for the frag swap and this issue came up with one of them. This is from a lfs that has supported the club for many years.

I feel the need to chime in on this issue. Can we all just call a cease fire on trashing local fish stores or saying negative things online and return to basic kindergarten rules ("do unto others..." and "if you don't have anything nice to say. . .")
Please remember that this forum is read by more folks than just our local community, and some very negative things are posted about some good stores, and unfortunately because of the Reef Central rules, it is very difficult for a store owner to defend themselves here. And, as Jeff noted, the discussions on this forum are creating a very negative perception of our club.
The bottom line is that none of us would be able to happily stay in this hobby if it wasn't for our local fish shops, so why don't we all try to be more supportive of them. If you had a bad experience at a local store, instead of trashing them to the world the next time a LFS discussion comes up, why don't you compliment and recommend your favorite stores instead. In the last month alone, there have been several threads complaining about local shops by name (this store wouldn't sell me corals/this store is too pricey/etc), and there is just no need for that type of negativity. This thread is a perfect example. A discussion on whether the price of blue zoas was too much could have easily have been accomplished without naming the specific LFS involved.
Please try to remember that everything that is written here is published to the world, and stop and think about how you would feel if someone trashed your business or your work on a national level.

p.s. $10-$11 a polyp for Pacific Blue Zoas is not a bad price. It is the Carribean blues that are usually a bit cheaper (but then again, they don't hold their blue color as well). You should always ask whether the Zoas or Caribbean or Pacific when buying blues.

Seems to me that all that people get off on is bashing LFS .
For a while now all I do is try to remind people that is such a bad practice period..
If u don't like a place DON'T spend your oney there period.
BTW so u guys know this are the same people that sponsor your events such as the swap and so forth.
With all the bad rep here it won't be lomg 'till there be no club and sponsors around.

Exactly! I agree 100%.
As most of you know, i have had some problems with a LFS that i wont name again. Some people agreed with me and alot didnt but either way, the story should be told,imo. Dont say that the stores cant defend themselves on here. There are plenty of "white knights" around to defend them when anything bad is said.
Boohoo, some lfs get mad when they get bad stuff written about them on here. This forum is for the exchange of information not to make the LFS feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Everyone here knows that we have bad and good lfs in our area. The ones that are bad or have bad practices should be talked about on here so people know what is going on. Yes , its true that without them we would be screwed and forced to go online but the reverse is also true. If the lfs know that they can do anything they want and noone will say anything or complain, what will the situation be like in a few years????
If the lfs dont like being talked bad about, maybe they should try to remedy the things people complain about rather than pout and refuse to support the FMAS. That's the most ridiculous thing i have ever heard, are they 3rd graders????? If a lfs gets bashed on here, then as a result says they dont want to support the FMAS (which is a BIG chunk of their prospective business), imo they dont deserve our support. Instead of trying to fix the problems there customers may have, some lfs want to just pout?
