This is out of the league of the Mini's
and out of "my league" :(
what is it about these new "cone" designs that makes them so darn expensive?....don't these manufacturers know we're in a massive recession?...:p

My marriage is so hating you!

Do you have any more pics? I'd like to see if Klaus was able to make the extra holes for more pump placement options.

I am expecting some pics from Klaus. He should have them over to me soon. As soon as I get them I will post here.

Thanks,
Jeremy

I was told today that they should be landing right at 3 weeks, and we'll be able to ship in approximately 3.5 weeks.

That should give another 2 weeks to order and get the special price. I am really close to pulling the trigger on this skimmer but just want to see some more shots of it performing.

Sell me on it! Sell me on it! Sell me on it! Sell me on it!

are the pumps inside like the minis or exterior of the skimmer? any idea?
from the pictures it looks like they are external

i believe we will start seeing them in three weeks. THe pump is external for those that asked. There are some cones coming out with the pumps underneath to save some space bUt now from royal exclusive as far as I know.

No word yet on the smaller cones. It will most likely be a little while, as the focus is on the mediums right now, as that one will be covering the broadest spectrum of tank sizes (~100gal - 400gal).

The pumps will be on the outside, rather than inside the body like the Mini's.

Klaus is still working on some new photos, as he has been extremely busy with the manuf. and shipping on the new units.

The pre-orders have really been moving along. Anyone interested in getting in on it I would highly recommend doing so before we are sold out of the first shipment.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Guys....

There has been some talk on a couple of different forums now about the neck on the medium being 6" diameter at the top, and this skimmer being "too big" for anything under 180gal - 200gal. I can tell you for a fact that is just flat out FALSE! The one or two people claiming this have never seen the skimmer even being ran, other than the 2-3 photos that have been posted of it. The skimmer has been tested running on a system that is 400L, which is just over 100gal, and running extremely well. Stock load is moderate on this particular system as well.

I hope this clears up some of the false statements that have been made about this unit so far.

Thanks,
Jeremy

that was a concern of mine. I have a 150g/40g sump and when I read that it really put a big doubt in my head that it was too big of a skimmer for me. I'm glad it's being tested on a smaller tank.

The skimmer has been tested on multiple size systems, however there has been one running on a 400l system for quite some time now.

That also does not make a lot of intuitive sense. If it were true that a large neck would make the skimmer not produce on a small tank, then it would mean that the water in the small system is as clean as the skimmer can make it. So the claim is then that the large neck doesn't clean to the same extent as a small neck. That would mean large tanks with large neck skimmers cannot get as clean as small tanks with small neck skimmers. And that's obviously not true.

You tell him to just keep working on this stuff, we will take the photos for him. :)

I'd hate to see this end up like a couple other new skimmers lately, say 3 weeks and it ends up 3 months...
