Sad Day Indeed

So, admitting that I know nothing about chap 11 and how it works. Can it be that they filed in April, were granted the request and then were caught in a major renovation? Then, the bank put the breaks on things and took everything. Again, this is not meant as an accusation or a disparaging remark. Rather, an inexperienced observation.

Now matter what the back story is on what happened, it is sad news for the community. Lets just hope for the animals sake that the store does not sit stagnant, as did that Clinton shop, which is more like a bunch of pools of death than a fish store at this point.

I thought the same thing.......

out of all the things the LFS did for our club( like LOTTS) why would you write something so tasteless. i just don't get it .....

good, bad, or whatever puppy center almost single handedly supported or club. whether he had debt, or had to many many bills, or temporarily hindered his staff, crap i dont care if they sold drugs out the back(which they didnt...lol) the reality is he or them(being the help) were the biggest sponsor that CTARs will probably ever have. and to complain about a gift certificate in this LFS's demize is tasteless. this really goes up my skirt. they would help with our tanks at any time of night or need.

this breakup will leave a large void in our club, tanks, and my whole view of this hobby. once again GL PC staff , and i do hope you find a way to come together again. new time , and new place.

+100
The store closing in one way or another affects all of us and hopefully everything gets resolved at some point but right now a little compassion will go a long way. We just had a bunch of our friends lose their jobs, their livelihood, their sole source of income. These are the people that bent over backwards for us time and time again. Complaining about a GC right now isn't going to help any of them put food on the table.

Ive got to say that this is obviously a huge loss and with any loss comes a grieving process. Everyone deals with grief in their own way, and anger is up there in the initial reactions. If you look through our posts here you will see this process in many of our posts...denial, anger, bargaining, depression & finally acceptance.

Point being: everyone has lost an important place in their personal hobby so maybe we can all cut each other some slack as it was very shocking news for all of us.

Im hoping that we can continue to remember their generosity to both the club & customers & leave it at that.

At this time i remain concerned for the people and of what is going to happen to all of the livestock. I hope we will find out soon about all of the helpless caught up in this. :(

omg i cant believe this. its the only place i go. Joe, Ryan and others......you guys will be sorely missed. i think i will now experience severe depression.

Very well said!!!!

I just had my first withdrawal today from not being able to stop by PC!! I really feel for everyone at PC. and I mean that from the bottom of my heart!! I have been in a situation much like this, I had employed 6 or 7 people and was in a situation that I had to close my store.... I held out for as long as I could, probably longer than I should have and dug myself a very deep hole..... I am sure that they did everything they could to avoid this. That is just the type of guys they are..... Great!!! Hold your heads high..

I really appreciate all the good words said about me, Joe, and the store in general. Not being there really gives me an empty feeling every day since. I loved my job there and everyone I worked with, and to make it even better, I actually got paid to do all of that. I wish I could explain what really happened here because the truth really shows the store as a victim, bad timing, and trusting the wrong people. It isnt my place to post info like that though. I also have no idea where Ill be buying corals and stuff from because really there was never a store around here that was close to what PC was. Hell, I need PE mysis right now and have no idea where to even get it from. Anyways, it was great helping all of you and hopefully I can do so again.
(PS) Im not so good at these kind of posts, but hopefully the point got across.

Shaking my head this is why fish stores hate Ctars members but anyway I feel like I lost a best friend

Why? They may not say it but I will. Because the club does little for the stores in the state. All the members want something from them but don't want to pay for it. The club supports buying stuff online and group buys to pay even less. The members mostly complain the prices are too high at the local stores. Just look at the posts on this forum.

I've had a lot of experience talking with the store owners and employees and believe it or not, many feel that once customers become members of the club, they LOSE customers...

Again online sales, group buys, buying from other club members, etc all hurt the stores. These are all lost sales to them.

Intersting perspective. PC and crew seemed to cater to members, carry their salt, and items no other store did at great prices to boot. This was a unique relationship and one that will be tough to replace. Member or not, I would have continued to shop there and looked forward to talking to Joe and Ryan.

If anyone ever came out and asked for something from the club I highly doubt Wed say no. The coral reef needed help moving recently and as I recall at least 5 of us were there to help. Some of us spent our entire weekend there. And even on this very thread a lot of members offered their assistance if PC needed it. I don't think that's very fair of you to say. Just because a couple of members are selfish doesn't mean we, as a whole, are.

I'd much rather buy local 100% of the time. I've even frequented some stores and paid full price on several visits, and seen no club benefits to show loyalty to the store... but when I go in and see something marked up 3, 4, 5, even 6 times in some instances, there is a line between making money for your store/business and being outrageous.

There's also something called "customer service" that goes a long way. I don't mind spending more than I would online if I'm being treated like a serious shopper, I'm being given educational information, and I'm not being treated like I'm just a dollar sign. And unfortunately, alot of the lfs are lacking that these days.

I can appreciate your opinion, however, I think it is a bit off base. I know personally since joining the club I have stopped shopping at a couple of stores, but that isn't because they did not give discounts...its because of the knowledge I have gained from experience and fellow reefers on this site. Some stores are just not as good as others...and as such do not warrant my money. As a club we have had maybe 5 group buys in the last 6 months. Now how many purchases do you think club members have made at LFS in that same time frame? Like any successful relationship it has to be symbiotic both parties benefit. Yes discounts are nice and they are a great way to get people in the store...but that is not the reason I go to the stores I choose to frequent. I give my money to the stores that provide customer service. I want to know that the information I am looking for is accurate. As for buying from other club members...I know Sass and I have met quite a few club members to buy/trade in the parking lot to PC and each time...we have left with product from PC so again everyone benefits. I too have talked to a LFS owner and the reason he doesn't want to support the club is bc he has priced himself out of the market....which is his right. But it is our right to not shop there. If this particular shop wants to target the less informed, I think it is a lousy business plan, but that is his right. I apologize for the rant, but I am tired of people telling others how they should spend their money. I have not met a single person in the hobby that has not purchased something online. . .so it is a bit of hypocrisy to come down on the club for such things. To bring things back to relevancy to the thread...PC was one of the places that time and time again earned my money...they were the best around and the store will be sorely missed.

Ok ok this is getting off track it just plain stinks and I wish the crew at PC find new jobs .......to the crew at PC thank you for all the years and hard work you put in to make a great store..............
