Sad Day Indeed

I just realized I still have a gift certificate to the store. I wonder if I will now have to go through the Attorney General to get my money?

Well this sucks!!!!!!!!!, got to be more to this.
Hope all employees can find work soon !.
SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!
A sad day indeed.:furious:

There is definitely more to be learned.

Employees? Did you guys have any hint that this could be a possibility? Or that anything was going bad with the landlord?

This is devastating news for Joe and Jeff and Ryan and his fellow co worker. Yes - I was very excited to have found an awesome FS but to have it come to an end like this for hard working people really stinks.
I hope they all land on their feet and pop up someplace else soon.

If you look up puppy center bankruptcy you can get all the facts. Again I wish everyone good luck.

I always felt so lucky to have a place like Puppy Center in my area to shop at. Shops like that are hard to come by and people like Joe, Jeff, Ryan and the rest of the devoted staff, even harder to come by. When Bruno and I want to have some fun we didn't do dinner or a movie, it was always Puppy Center. Very few businesses know the meaning of customer service any more, it really was their specialty. Always there to lend a hand, give advice or just to have a few laughs. I thank Ryan for the endless hours of reef talk while I circled round and round the tanks making my choices, always a pleasure:)

We wish you guys all the best in whatever life throws you next.

+1 this was our date night also!

Im really sorry for the employees most of all....especially in this job market....im sure you all will be able to collect but of course that wont be as much as regular pay. I really wish all of you the best of luck in your future endeavors! Its a sad, sad situation.

This is the worst news I have heard in a while. Actually we were planning on heading there tonight to bring a fish in to trade for credit (she is nipping corals) but I got out of work late. I wish Joe and Ron and all the employees the best of luck. Seems like this can't be real.

In any TOUGH economic times such as these PETS are the first category to suffer the collateral damage of economic failure.

I have been involved in some way with the Pet Industry since I was 15 years old.

Retail Pet
Veterinarian Services
Grooming Services
Kennels
Pet Sitting

The First tough times that I witness was just after Ronald Reagan had taken office, the store I was working for was a MOM and POP shop, Rob Langevin may you rest in peace, owner of Pet Towne, Inc. with Six Locations, Wilbraham Ma, Enfield Square, Windsor, Weathersfield, Meriden Square, Vernon - Tri City Plaza.

He weathered the storm pretty well but when the 2nd collapse came in the mid eighities spelt trouble....all the stores but one, the Windsor Location Closed down. From that one store, less than 1,000 square feet he rebuilt his store.

These economic times of rising electrical, heat, and fewer people working has resulted in the damage to the small business owner.

Regardless if you are an Obama Supporter or not this economy is NOT HEALING, its NOT GROWING or expanding. Unlike the 80's and most of the 90's retail stores did not have to compete with ONLINE businesses that have less over head. The Petco's and the PetSmarts have done to the retail business what Walmart and the Targets have done to the Zayres, Caldors, Bradlees, Grants, Woolworth and K-Mart stores.

Its been over 3 years that I have been looking for work and have pretty much given up.

Stores can NOT stay in business with a state that continues to give money to the Large Companies like Cigna, and that new Genetic Research Center in Farmington when small businesses need the help first.

What stores have to pay taxes on to the city is ridiculous....you pay a tax right down to the last unused staple in your stapler.

Businesses are NOT going to survive under these conditions.

I feel for the owners and employees and my condolences,

but if you want CHANGE people than you need to make yourselves heard.

At the prices around here I might just start making my own blend. Going to have to start shopping around. Petco 5gal bucket(reef crystals) was like 77 or something..... I remember paying much much much less at PC

I feel real bad for all the people that had gift certificates, items on order etc. let's face it, I'm a bussiness owner, and things don't happen over night! They knew and choose the dirty way to leave their employees and patrons feeling screwed over. Sucks!
Details will make things easier too swallo, but you don't get evicted over night!!!

Btw sorry for the angry opinion here. I loved this place and it is a brutal truth about small bussiness in a crappy economy. I will eat the gift cards and take it in stride. Good luck too all former employees!
