Saltwater cycling?

I am starting a cycle on my 125g tank. I've heard of people putting shrimp in the tank and letting it decay. My question is what kind of shrimp and how many do I put in there?

So it doesn't matter if it's raw or cooked?

You want raw. Preferably not frozen. Even better if it still has head and isnt deveined.
