Scotty & Tammy's 4x4x2 SPS tank

I was thinking i should PM Sahin and make sure he knows i was just messing around with the stupid frog remark - until i read this.........:angryfire:

A **** was once strutting up and down the farmyard.......

See, this sorta thing reminds me of the bull ant nests little biggles used to tease. Instead of just sitting and taking their medicine the silly little ants would try to bite back at little biggles.

That's when i lit the petrol....................

I think you need to come over to Aus so i can take you out to watch Scotty do a big DEEP concrete pour Sahin.......... i would like that very much. :)

:lolspin: biggles the stupid frog remark was a bit below the belt and if sahin does ever come to Oz I'm sure we can arrange for him to visit one of my job sites :lol2:

Yup, I knew telling everyone about your secret aquarium care "routine" (not water changes...but dancing) would hit a nerve causing severe eye twitching and then thoughts of :hammer: + :blown: + :uzi: + :angryfire: + :deadhorse1: + :mtool: at me.

Scott dont worry about Biggles hitting below the belt. He still thinks I made a voodoo doll of him. Biggles mate, I recommend painkiller...not for your tank, but to ease the butt pain. :p

Scott, I see you're on Facebook...after all these years I decided to join. Now I realise I should have signed up years ago; so many reefers are on FB; I'm currently chatting to some very elite reef keepers. Technology is awesome. :)

Yes I finally found you sahin :D technology is awesome and I've also been chatting with some really experienced and insightful people over the last few days it's been great :)

Happy New year fellas. Happy holidays Scotty well wishes to you and your family my friend

Hi Dan

Same to you and your family my friend

Hi Scotty,

Happy new year. Your reef tank and approach to reef keeping have inspired me. I hope to be able to have a tank like yours one day.

I have a question: how often do you replace your ATI tubes?

Thanks

Hi, thank you very much and a new year to you too :)
I'm getting 18 months out of my bulbs which I'm pretty happy about, I have a PAR meter available when ever I need so it gets checked regularly but I also keep track of when bulbs need changing anyway

Thanks again Scotty

Truly insipiring tank. Loved your tank, what kind of buls are you using right now

Thanks

Hi reefrid, I use all ATI brand T5 tubes as they are the easiest bulbs to get a hold of here in Oz. I'll list what bulbs I'm using below for you too :)

In each 8x54w I use-
3 Blue+
2 Coral+
1 Aquablue Special
1 Purple+
1 Actinic

Thanks Scotty :)

18 months is pretty amazing. I usually change after 9 months. I will follow your foot steps from now on. You must lower your units regularly though after checking your tubes' PAR output to maintain their consistency. How far do you lower?

Cheers Bulent

Hey Scotty, happy new year! Tank is stupid awesome as always! And you have those groupies (yes, I am one as well) who are just plain stupid.. No! No, I would never say such a thing about biggles... Or sahin... :)
Just wondering, you say 18 months for bulbs changeout but I assume you have them on a rotation so that you have both old and new bulbs running at all times?

Your tank is one sexy looking beast!! I think they should be considering you for TOTM.

A quartet of M. Setosa, very nice.

I'm curious if these are recently added frags from another source or your own tank ?

The reason I ask is the dense shape isn't typical of M. Setosa grown in a tank with high flow.

Yes I was quite shocked too but I've experienced no loss is PAR and no loss in colour changing out bulbs at 18 months. I only adjust the height of my lights during summer and winter months here in Australia mainly for the heat factor as it gets pretty hot here during summer :)

Thanks Scotty

Hey Matt same to you mate :D
They are a crazy couple sahin and biggles but it's a great thing to see in reefing and personally I think there's not enough of it now days ;) just as long as sahin doesn't come to Australia and Kevin gets a hold of him :lolspin:

When I change out bulbs I do run a rotation mate, I don't change all out at the same time the maximum I change out at one time is 4 so that it's not a huge shock to the tank or cause any blooms :)

Hi Greg and thank you very much.

I've already received the TOTM honour, it was back in Febuary of 2014. You may not of noticed as it's grown a lot since then :)

Hi Reefvet

The M. Setosa was given to me by a friend as he was running zeovit in his tank and it didn't like it. When I received the frags they were basically 2 small frags encrusted right around with no where else to grow, I decided that I would chop them in half and stick them down to that piece of rock to hopefully one day become a nice colony.

They are in a extreme high flow area of the tank and they were a little smoother when I first received them so that could possibly be the cause? I really like it and wanted to display it at the front of the tank as a feature piece :)
