Sea Anemones and Lighting for Survival

Many people have a huge part of their lives invested in this hobby. Their animals are close to their hearts and their wallets will never fully recover.
The words I would use to describe this hobby are slow, expensive and rewarding. Take time and over research before taking any action. I would still advise you to pick your two favorite same species clowns and find homes for the others. IMO you have a great excuse to start two more tanks. Or one 350 gallon tank.
You should look into T5's I hear a lot of good things about them and wish my tank was rectangular so that they would be appropriate.

Why then Mr.Random Aquarist should not have such a Judgemental Attitude toward a Total Stranger and I understand Passion over this.But if you are rude in a offensive Manner to someone then expect it Back.Stop Judging people in such a rude way and someone wont respond in kind.Tron87 was not Judgemental but he was corrective to me I responded in kind.But if you are going to Skin me alive for a Mistake then I will not take that Kindly.

Slacker I did not ask for Fish Comptabilty I asked about Lighting do you know what this Thread was about.I am sorry I lost sea Anemones but that is why I came here, for Good advice not Judgement.I did not ask about Fish Compatablity some people took on themselves to attack me on unrelated issues in this threadThis thread was about Lighting if you people have concern about Fish Compatabilty then PM me.Dont go on a Mission to save the Fish World from the evil Snapper1.These issues could have been asked in a PM instead of going off Topic.I did not ask about Fish compatabilty but I see that there are to many Judgemental people in this Section so I wont return here for Questions Ever.

Just because people are concerned about your fish doesn't make them judgmental. No one said anything about your personal character or value as a person. You told us about the fish in your tank, we attempted to give you advice that will help you maintain the kind of healthy, stable tank in which it is possible to keep an anemone. You got offended.
The fact of the matter is, in a tank stocked like yours, it will likely be difficult for an anemone to thrive.
Sorry if you're offended by the advice you've gotten, but just because it's not what you asked for doesn't mean it's not valuable or that it was out of line.

You have chosen a difficult aquarium to light properly. A 25" deep tank normally would require 250 watt Metal Halides. Not being able to hang a pendant or two makes it even more difficult to light cheaply. An aquarium 30" long is also an odd size.

As for the way you were treated. Hang in there. This swings in cycles. It seems that when we get an influx of people from wetwebmedia.com, there seems to be this, "you didn't do the research so you are evil and I have a right to bash you" attitude. Interestingly enough it often comes from people who really don't have a lot of experience, "but have read a lot".
We need to learn to give advice without making the seeker of the advice feel like an idiot.

One of the problems with online forums is that the attitude of a thread is often defined by how a viewer interprets it. When I wrote that thing about researching before you buy, I didn't mean for it to explode like this. I just put in a small word of advice that I wanted to emphasize on. My dad, believing he is/was an expert with aquariums, made a lot of bad choices by impulse buying and not researching. I've seen what can happen. In no way was I trying to belittle you or fuel my ego. Once again, the attitude was defined by how you interpretted it. I meant for you to interpret it as a small, innocent emphasis on something I knew you knew. You asked about lighting, but your biggest problem was fish stocking, which I know more about than I do lighting. If I can help, I try. That's all. You can mark my word that I refer to myself as a newb to the hobby, and I admit that most people have more experience than I do.

What phender said, with the added thought, skip lighting the last few inches of each side and focus on proper 24" coverage.....3" on each side is not going to make a difference if you place the critters properly.
fwiw: I run a single 150wt metal halide over a tank of larger width and same depth as yours; of course the anemones are clustered under the lighting in the center

I've mixed clowns & damsels for years in various combinations & have never had a problem. They ignored each other & still do today.
I agree on only one clown pair per system.

So true & a lot of false information becomes gospel if it's repeated enough. If people kept their respones based on personal experience the quality of info would be much better.

If so you can get by even cheaper with a retro fit metal halide.

These guys are pretty good http://www.catalinaaquarium.com/ They are all 100% built in USA been around for 11 years, so its easy to get replacement parts. They also make light to the size of your tank, mine tank is a corner and finding a complete light fixture for it was a pain.

Thanks to all for the links I will be researching these sites for the lighting I need.I am sure some people had good intentions I think they read a lot of their advice.I have mixed Damsels and Clowns for Years and the Majority are Green Chormos Damsals which are peaceful.I never said I had Hell Damsels you people assumed that, Four Damsels are peaceful one Blue devil and a Dimino.I have a ton of live rock in this Tank there is little agressive behavior with my Damsels.So everyone can read this or that and whatever but I see what works for me because I have the Reality of What I see in my Tank.Thank you eveyone for the Lighting Answers I got some good possiblitys here.As for the advice from all the experts on Fish Compatabilty Thanks but no Thanks.What I have is fine and I have nice Happy and Heathy Fish contrary to the Experts who can see into my Fish Tank with there XRAY vision.Seeing is beliving fellas have you seen my Fish Tank no you havent.And yes Fish Compatabilty is Important I dont buy Fish for Gladator Tornaments for my amusement.Not all Damsels are evil I Find they all have there own personality to them.I feel I have to write this to defend myself Damn I just asked about lighting people not Dear Abby of the Fish World.I tell you what dont give Advice unless you are asked

Honestly, I don't see the problem with giving advice based on research...much of the advice offered here was more or less straight from reliable sources. I feel that people can benefit from other's research just as they can benefit from their experiences.
I still can't help but feel bad for those clowns...especially with multiple species in there. Must be a rough for them in there. Oh, right. I forgot. You don't want any advice on your livestock.
