Serenity Reef

Looks great, that 8 x 39W ATI unit will get get the job done very nicely over your display size
Can i ask what bulbs you're going to run mate.

Cheers @ Sahin and Biggles,

The bulb combo is simply from front to back, ATI tubes

Super clean work!! If you ever think the tank is too blue looking, I would go 50/50 blue+ coral+. Switched to that and haven't looked back to purples or actinic bulbs!

Can i ask for your opinion of the gyre thingy mate, noise compared to Tunze pumps and is the flow as good as they say ?

Really happy with The Gyre, this one is the XF 130
I used to run tunze 6055 and 6095 on controllers.
The water flow is IMO way better than a stream pump. Stream pumps are directional and point source.
The gyre can shift water in a big way. Having a gyre wave is a lot more gentle and yet moves more water.

The Gyre is great as continuous and ramping faster and slower.
In forward motion it scores five stars however in reverse gyre I give it zero out of five stars. I have not changed a paddle over to trick the flow in my tank to running a forward / reverse gyre simultaneously.

As for noise you can't hear it.
Had to switch off everything and have the gyre on 7/10 to hear it.

I would say that of the two gyre I have heard, on XF 150 at the LFS

And My XF 130 these units make a fraction more noise than Tunzes. But not noticeably
I don't think that noise will be a complaint from users.

Agree , I think you would get some great growth and PAR - I needed to get a view of the actinics , it was about six years ago that I last held hands with actinic , that was on a T8 tube set up .
I went on a LED journey jumped T8 to LED.
T5 were becoming mainstream and LED were only just entering the market then.
Hahaha - Vertex and Eco Tech did not have any LED units out in those days...

As for colour rendition I could easily swap out that actinic and stick a blue plus in there. I do like my tanks blue.
ATI sent the light to me with : blue blue purple coral coral purple blue blue
configuration - that looked fine too

Things are looking good so far in the aquarium. Acans are looking mint, zoas are starting to open from the time spent in the sand pit .
Had a slight dusting of dino on the gravel , cleared completely. Haven't cleaned the glass and that's even gotten cleaner by itself.
Due for a 1/3 water change tomorrow and one more piece of rock to complete the aquascape. Just flooded the laundry with RODI as the last bucket overflowed, lol.
Plumbing the auto top off tomorrow.
Frags will be picked up soon say next week.

Here is a pic of the piece of rock going through the acid wash today.

Can't wait to see some more shots of the tank! It's sounding killer already Nils :)

Mate, the scape is set, moved the Gyre lower to about half way in the tank , this is producing some nice flow now..... But
Kinda feel like upgrading to the 150 size Gyre.
In fact it's what I will do soon.

so far so good!
subscribed.

Cheers mate! The latest instalment for the journal is today I spent working on the cabinet doors , hope you like them.
They have taken hours and hours so far, cutting angles to frame the doors by hand and fitting door handles . A labour of love I guess.
Enjoy.
