Serenity Reef

That thing is well and truly stuffed mate. Just putting a half decent skimmer back on the system will make a huge difference and get things back on track i think.

Happy days! :D

Managed a second cup like that 36 hours later. This has to be good for the tank.

Put the Ehiem 1260 back into service - seems my energy saving thoughts about running a return pump half the wattage is no good for flow through the sump.
I guess having stagnant coast to coast and sump and no skimmer is recipe for algea growth.

Yuk !!!! Be warned these are some sad pics.

Pretty much all the rocks are covered with this fluff!!!!

Alright then.... Since you missed out on a few full skimmer cups , let me fill you in then...
A re arrange to create a zoo garden not my best effort but still it will do

Next the infamous birds messed soup garden

And then FTS

And then....
Bommie time, lol

I really love your build man, everything is so well thought out and executed.

Your rock has seen better days, however you're back on track and a little algae never killed anyone.

Wow, cant believe that magnet split. I dont know why they are using mushy magnetic material encased in plastic...why not use the solid magnetic material used in most impellors!???

I bet all sorts was leaching out of that impeller causing/making the algae issue worse. When my MP10 magnet split, I had STN issues and similar looking algae issues some years ago.

Well, hope the tank progresses well from here. on. :)

Looking awesome Nils :) I may have to steal some ideas from you when it comes to scaping my new tank as I definitely want some decent overhangs! :) Good to see things back on track though mate

@wrangy- no mate not a skimz but made by my friends at TMS in Taiwan - very small company, still going I think try searching Teythys Marine Systems or I can PM you a link.

Furthermore - since I've been working myself silly and handed over a huge project I , well the missus encouraged me to go and treat myself ... Maybe in not SPS territory but still very much eye candy . enjoy!!!!!!

Love the acans mate, very nice pieces!

A link would be nice, tried a quick search and didn't turn anything up lol starting to see a difference now the skimmer has had time to settle in?? :)

There you go mate!

Oh and BTW water changes are a few shades better towards RODI quality when comparing the two side by side that is clean water vs tank water . I just got a new salt bucket today so looking forward to results from switching from instant ocean to Red Sea blue bucket new formula.
Also picked up 2x Red Sea T5 15000k tubes and to be honest , colour rendition is woefull. Really disappointed maybe after a good burn in we will see. To me looks like a 4300k to 5000k tube !!!!

Thanks! Pity there's not too much info as they're really nice looking bits of kit!

Glad to hear things improving steadily :) and I'm sure the tank will jump again with the addition of Blue bucket too ;) lol
Wow are they really that bad?? I've heard the RS bulbs aren't meant to be too bad

With multiple water changes done since the last post, colour comparison between fresh batch water and tank water in the white water change buckets are getting closer to each other.

With regards to the Red Sea light , have to say that ATI Coral Plus is my preference , I need to find some.....

Hey Dom? How often do you dose Coral Snow?
I've had it for years but never routinely use it.

This algae is stubborn and doing my head in!!!!!!!!!

 glad to hear it mate!!

Yeah that's the only bloody problem haha is sourcing anything ATI, runaway's! I would definitely love to get some more blue+ bulbs

I was dosing 2ml every second day and that seemed to work well for me :) Definitely cleared a lot of things up and helped zeo along that little more
