WOW, RC is a bit slow tonight. NG, I was worried about a moisture problem but with the dehumidifier running I am no longer worried. If I have to I can install a fan to the outside with little to no problem.

sfilingeri, I have a line running from my RODI unit to a float valve in my sump, keeping a constant water level. I installed a TDS meter to keep an eye on the status of my filters.

Humidity is not a big problem for us in the basement, we have AC but not piped to the basement. The air return is in the first level hallway so there is really not much air coming up from downstairs to make a deference. But with the evaporation of about 1 1/2 gallons a day it seems to settle in the basement, thus the dehumidifier.

I did make a purchase tonight from Saltwaterfish.zzz, I bought a blue hippo Tang and a Powder Brown Tang also a white anemone crab to go with one of the2 Bta's I will be picking up Wednesday.

Thanks for the info. That was one thing I really would be interested to see how it does for you. I'm glad it's not really an issue! Please keep us updated.

Powder Browns are awesome fish!! Can't wait to see photos, you got a ton of updates coming!!

It is a good day, i got my order from saltwaterfish.com.

At 7:00 tonight I pick up the RBTA and the GBTA:D
Hopefully more pics to follow tonight!

Looking great! I get my 180 this weekend and have to go thru the whole process:( . When I start pumping water in, thats when it gets fun(while praying that my floor holds) . :smokin:

WOW! Looking great. I LOVE your new tangs. The blue is beautiful, and Powder Browns are great looking fish.

Your tank is really coming together quickly now! Good news about the light fixture.. it's about time!!

Looks like I'm heading out your way in a couple of days. Any tips on a good marine fish store in GB I could visit if my tank withdrawal gets too bad?

I wish you the best of luck musky1963, it is excruciating waiting for it to fill up. Are you going to be using an RO unit or straight from the tap?

Have you done anything to help support the floor? I really think standard floor joists should be sufficient to hold a 180, but I am not by any means an expert on the subject.

Thank you very much NG, they acted just like the other fish I put in the tank, very happy, then very timid, then telling each other" thats my spot, back off!"

Yes it is coming along quick, I hope not too quick:(

Congrats on your tangs as they seem to have made it to their new home safe............

Thanks sfilingeri, they acclimated well but now seem to be in a state of shock, very understandable though. Not sure what size tank they were in before being bagged and sent here.

It took my male clown until tonight to eat again, I noticed the PBT picking at algea on the rocks so I hope thats a good sign.

There is a place called AQUATIC IMPORTS, not sure of their hours but he has more saltwater tanks setup than any other store I have been to. Some good prices some a little high. Last time I was there he had a beautiful RBTA that was on the small side for $120.

What day(s) are you going to be in GB?

You know it Gurl:lol: Sorry I didn't get to this quote earlier...I was to exited getting the pictures loaded:rollface:

I picked up the BTA'S tonight, VERY nice people, with awesome fish and corals, Thanks again kjkozz007!!!! The BTA'S went in with no problems, at least not that I noticed:)

Tomorrow I will hopefully get some good picks of everything.

I'm getting in Friday night, and leaving Wednesday morning. My dad's not doing well, so I'm going to be spending most of that time with him. But, I'm sure the reef withdrawal will kick in, and I'll need to at least get to a store!

muelpaul.......I beefed up the flooring yesterday with short posts/bracing as it is on an addition. I might even go get some cheapie jack stands just to make sure. Going to be be close to 2500-3000 lbs, so a little overkill would give me some piece of mind.
I am using ro/di and have been making it for the past few days. Yikes, thats like 100 cups of salt to mix up
:mixed: .

A steel bearers and joist system will hold the 180g without a problem. I consulted an engineer about this. More than likely though, you would be on timber framed system, so if there is no wall or bearer in the area of your tank, you will definately need to prop the floor. My house is a bearers and joist system, and I have 2 tanks next to each other, both about 55g tanks. I put an extra bearer under the joists, just in case.

The biggest problem with timber floors is the flex/movement of the floor. The floor can take more of a load than most people think. But with a fish tank, the floor flexes and the tank moves, and its not a pleasant experience seeing it move around, trust me. So if you can strengthen the floor I'd do it. It will help you sleep a little easier not worry about the tank cracking. ;)

Cheers

Chris

Thanks, muelpaul, I appreciate it.

A quick search shows Aquatic Imports on Pine Street, that'll be easy to find, thanks!
