Shallow reef tank Club

I figured since I made some progress, it's time for a picture. It's a 3 sided SF made by Glass Cages, 48"x24"x20".

broke1: that's looking real good so far!

Browsing through this thread make me want a shallow tank in the worst way! Does anyone miss the overall height of a normal tank?

well i guess that is all opinion based. I guess it is based on what you consider a shallow tank. Let's put it this way, if you have posted in this thread, or you consider your tank shallow, do you ever miss or want a higher tank? Maybe for more height on the rockwork, etc...

I've got tanks from 12" to 30" and for ease of cleaning acrylic, shorter is better. I don't like wet arm pits..... You can be a little more creative the taller the tanks get.

Nice tank! You build that one yourself or purchase it?

I really want anthias and was wondering if they are hard to keep?
Not been a problem for me. I would suggest Lyretail or Dispar to begin with.

It took me a while to find it too.

Thanks. It's taken me a little longer to build, but I think that's par for the course. The canopy has proven tricky as I wanted all the wires routed through the wall and everything contained in what will hopefully be 6" tall. It's hinged with exterior door hinges and will swing completely vertical for tank maintaining chores.

great thread, i realy enjoyed looking at the lagoon does anybody have more pics of the lagoon? i would like to set one up one day in my house just need that push to get it started, and a rich uncle to donate to the cause.

So are you liking the sandbed? Im trying to decide if Im goign to use sand in my new tank. I leaning towards a shallow sand bed.

Well, I guess I belong to this "club" as well! Here's a pic of my new shallow rimless tank from Miracles. It's 42x30x20 and will house my LPS collection of Acans, Micro's and Favia's . I had originally planned on placing it in the same spot in the familyroom as the 92G corner tank, but I got used to not having a tank upstairs anymore and listening to it while watching TV, etc. I also didn't like the look of the shorter tank in that spot, so down to the basement it came. I will be removing the corner stand with the 29G nano on it and moving just the nano into the fishroom and putting the new rimless in that same corner.

The 2nd photo gives you an idea of where it's going in the basement in relation to the 268G. The door you see goes into my fishroom.

The tank is ok,;) that neon is straight tits! Nice rooom Sara, Vipers and multiple big fish tanks, you rule.

Going t5 for the shallow LPS tank?
