Shallow reef tank Club

I really like them. They add that extra pop. I was disappointed in them at first because when you first turn them on your expecting crazy insane color or at least I was. you need to turn them off every once in a while to see how killer they are. They make a 14k Phoenix bulb look yellow.

I hope to be a member of the club too and I'm hoping this club will give me some well needed advice. Over the years I've put together a hodge podge of a tank and I'm in the process of tearing it down to go smaller.
I'm having a 24x24x12 tank made. I've got parts on the way for some DIY LED lighting. I want to take may time and do things right to make the tank clean and simple. I want to be able to keep clams and SPS. Most of my flow will come from a Vortech MP10.For now I'm planning barebottom.
So here is what is giving me trouble.
If you were in my situation how would you place the overflow and returns? What kind of overflow? Herbie or Beananimal (I like these because they are quiet)? Centered or corner? A local guy is going to make it but I need to tell him where to drill. Pics of your shallow tank over flow would be appreciated.

I don't post pictures too often, but the tank has hit 7 months old and finally fell into place. Everything is still frags and I am having some issues with Phosphates, but that is normal for me.

I'd do a Bean overflow, coast to coast with the actual drain outside the tank with a small overflow within the tank. There are pics of it in Bean's thread.

Replaced my sandbed the other day and switched up reflectors... here's a quick update shot from today.

I have a 36x24x12 tank. I think I posted a while back.
I have a ssb in this tank and use a mp20.
Anyway here is my 700 gph glass-holes overflow and returns set up peninsular style.
Not as silent as a Herbie but not bad and it is low profile.

Hey guys, I need your advice regarding the overflow chamber on a 36x36x18 tank. I have narrowed down the size of the rear, internal overflow chamber to either 4x8 or 4x10. I am going to use either a 1" or 1.5" bulkhead and a 3/4" return. Where would you put the return at? Would you put the single return on the overflow chamber (the usual way) or would you drill the rear panel of glass and put it adjacent to the overflow chamber? Also, would you go 4x8 or 4x10 on the size of the overflow chamber? Thanks.

Are those 3/4" return holes?

Nick, can you give me the dimensions of your overflow chamber and the size of your drain and return bulkheads?

How much clearance is required behind the tank to miss the elbow on the glass-holes 700 gph?

Well, it's dark right now, so no measuring but a 1.5 in. elbow O.D. is close to 2 in and I have maybe an inch of thread before the elbow.
So, about 3 inches for a guess.

Here my entry to the club.

48x30x16. Starfire all around, polished edges.....and so on. I'm downsizing my 240 acrylic to this.
