Shallow reef tank Club

This is my shallow reef. It is 24"x24"x12" with a wall to wall overflow in blue. It is built from 3/8" acrylic and is plumbed through the bottom to eliminate the need of powerheads for the ultra clean look. Light is a 250 watt 12K Reeflux powerd by a dimmable coralvue electronic ballast. The light is housed in a LumenBright mini pendant on a custom bracket. The sump is a custom built unit with one filter sock, Reef Octopus Skimmer, refugium and a mag 1800 return pump. All electrical is built in to cabinet with switches for return pump and skimmer. The cabinet is also custom with extra wide 'leaning ledge' on three side (because I like to lean and look close). Livestock is a mix of softies and LPS along with a few fish. Thanks for looking.

Nice set up! How do ya like the set up with the returns coming out of the bottom of the tank? Awesome tank!!

If you add starfire three sides, overflow, + black silicone + freight to ship up location it will run you approx. $600.

Gobie: Really nice. Who made your tank?

I ordered the 36x37x18 tank. They do deliveries all over the country via their own trucks, cost $96 to ship to me near Tampa. Tank was $346 delivered. Can't beat that deal on a 100g cube.

So I'll be joining this thread :)

Can't wait. I placed my order for a 60"x27"x16", should take about a month. A big step back into the hobby from my 20 gal a few years ago.

I really love the clean look. I just don't like to see wires and magnets. I think the tank should be as attractive as the corals. I wanted a piece of furniture with life.

by the way, I get great flow in all areas for the tank and excellent surface agitation and it is VERY quiet.

Thanks for the compliment also.

Joe

Just got my fixture in and mounted above... got the stand skinned ready to stain and trim... got to handle this hair algae issue I imported from my old tank lol... then time to put ALL my old livestock back in. Just a quick pick to update everyone...

I just picked up a cylinder tank (for $5). It's got an 8 inch diameter and 4 inch depth.. I think that counts as a shallow reef :D

Wow 12 inches tall, now this is pushing the envelope :p looks very nice though.

Thanks. I was contemplating going with something else, but I do like it a lot. Its been up since March, and I'm kind of wanting a bigger tank.I have a perfect room in my basement for an inwall tank, but because of the main house drainage pipes, I couldn't put a bigger tank there. I had a 8ft tank that I had planned on putting down there but sold it last year. Wish I didn't :)

Yeah, long, wide and shallow is how I like my tanks. Just reminds me of a tidepool I guess from when I was a kid :)

Nice dimensions on your tank as well Stan...I could never get my wife to pose in front of mine like that lol. You're lucky you have such support :p

Love it Bleedfire! That has to be the biggest AIO tank I have ever seen. Seriously where the skimmer is... are there chambers attached to the tank like an AIO?
