I think there's a q-tip there by the frogspawn :P

nice light!!!

homemade?

Thank you very much for noticing, it took lots of time to make from scratch.

Are those cat5/6 cables? Using some kind of power over ethernet setup?

I would love to get more info on that.

They are cat5 cables. I was inspired by Santoki's build. He used 24awg for some of his wiring. They are being used entirely as power cables. At the driver box there is a Cat5 keystone and one on the LED module. The blue twisted pair powers the blue light string, the brown pair powers the white string and the orange pair powers the fans.

I'm getting set to make a big update in my build thread here.

I am going to purchace a marineland cube 70G 30x30x18. I would like to start off with softies and then graduate. So far as lighting I would like some input.

Hi,
I have an 36" cube 18"H and I started with an 8-bulb ATI but it didn't give me full coverage, I should have went with their 10-bulb.

I am in the process of swapping out the 8-bulb for 2 AI Sol. But for 30"cube you should be good with an 8-bulb with good reflectors "Ati" or a radion led unit.

Rivulet 2 AIsol won't cover as well as an 8 bulbT5. They have limited spread.

I have a 6 bulb on my 27"front to back and would need 4 AI sol to cover the same area.

How did I not know this thread existed?
So many amazing tanks in here, I just spent an hour drooling over these pictures!

I've been in the shallow club for three years, though my tank was dry for about one of those years and JUST got set back up. Cycle is done and I just put a few corals in this week (and ripped apart half the rockstack so forgive the mess)

I've LOVED having a shallow tank. Round makes pictures hard, but looking down into the tank is a joy and my coral colorations have been fantastic. It's also been a treat to have easy and solid flow with few to no dead spots.

Here's both a pic in its prime before I had to empty it, and one from tonight as I'm just getting started with it again now. Give me another 9 months and hopefully it will be a thing of beauty again.

thanks guys. I'll post the occasional update here now that I know this thread exists as it (hopefully) gets back to its former glory.

Noticed I never mentioned it's actual size... It's a 16" deep tank (about 15" water line) and the circumference is 5'

Found a used tank in my area on CL. Going to pick it up tomorrow and join the club. Measures approx 48"x20"x13". What do you think?

I'm starting all over from scratch. Haven't had a tank in years so it's going to be a while before I start a build thread lol.

I have a 48x24x12 that I'm trying to finish the plumbing on. I can't wait to get it wet. I you think it sounds good now wait until you're standing by it.

Well come to find out the lady might have sold it out from under me. I'm a fire fighter and had to work a 24 instead of a 12. Since she "didn't hear back from me right away" she assumed I didn't want it.

***!
