Share your Radion Graph!

i set the timing as 10am to 9pm but after that it is all blue . i used your program .

any idea? this pic is taken at 9:17pm is this correct ?

Did you find out?

So uhhh... anyone using Natural Mode?

I started out using Natural Mode, but it did not provide a long enough period of all out 100% intensity light I need for my SPS dominant reef to flourish under these lights, so I made my own using Artificial Mode. My graph and settings are in post 36 in this thread. My Artificial light period is based on Natural, with the middle, intense light period stretched out, if you see the shape of my graph vs the Natural Mode one.

I still only use natural mode. I really like the look of it. I only have mine set at 63% relative intensity. I had it a bit higher, but a couple of my corals started to bleach. Makes me wonder how some systems can run at 100%, but i guess it depends on the depth of the tank. I have a 40B so its quite shallow. I've had really good growth out of it. Recently I added a 2 hour "lunar cycle" to the end of day.

As a side note, I have Johnathan's graph set on artificial mode if/when i ever decide to make the switch.

I posted a comment on creating 31 unique Radion schedules, which could be used to mimic the monthly lunar cycles on the "Lighting, Filtration & Other Equipment" section, but thought I "may" get more responses here.

I am looking for a way to programmatically import each day's cycle into the Radion desktop's interface. If interested in the concept please click here to go to the other thread.

Before taking the time to create all the schedules, I scaled this back a bit to see if I could find a way to automatically load new schedules. I currently have two schedules set up for August. One with a moon cycle and one without.

I use Workspace Macro recorder 4.6 from Automation Anywhere to load the new Radion schedules. Moon Phase on from Aug 1-9, Moon Phase off from Aug 10-23, then Moon Phase back on from Aug 24-31. After a few trial and errors the automation seems to be working.

Here's my graph and instructions on how to import it! :)

1. Visit the following page to download Jon's Radion Graph:
http://software.ecotechmarine.com/JonsRadionGraph.zip

2. Once the download has finished, save the .etg file to your desktop.

3. Open up the EcoSmart software, and adjust your Start Day/Start Night times in Artificial Mode to 10:00am/11:00pm.

4. Apply the .etg file to your graph by selecting the down arrow button that says "œImport to Selected Schedule".

5. The graph will then be applied to your existing project, where you can now program the group(s) and save the project for future reference.

I finally imported this graph last night. It was late, so it was already towards the end of the graph around 9pm. Anything that was red/orange in my tank was totally freakin nuclear florescent! My eyes couldn't even focus. lol Pretty cool. Yellows and greens like my eagle eye zoas were really intense as well.

hi Jon can you create a graph with 70% intensity ?

LEDs are running super dim after lights out?

LEDs are running super dim after lights out?

I am currently running one Radeon XR 30 W on my 26 gallon Cardiff tank after lights out it seems that some LED's are very dim they do not turn off anybody out there know why? I am using Jonathan's graph.....thanks!

hello echotech,
we would like a temporary moon phase graph until the company comes out with a moon phase program. This would inhibit spawning in our tanks.

Hi Jon, what type of corals do you keep under your graph?
I've got an Elos 70 with 2 Radions. I have a mix of 14k and 20k presets on a 12 hour day ramping up from blue and down to blue with a 6 hour period in the middle of the day at 83%. A lot of my SPS are losing color or turning brown but my chalices and LPS in the lower part of my tank are doing fine. I just got rid of the 14k and I'm running only 20k at 83%.
I'd love to try your graph but is it strong enough for an SPS dominant tank? Thanks

I run my radions at 14k (that's 100% of all 5 color channels) for 6 hours at 100% intensity. I definitely think you need a longer, high intensity program for a SPS dominant tank.

hello echotech,
we would like a temporary moon phase graph until the company comes out with a moon phase program. This would inhibit spawning in our tanks.

According to Eric Borneman, moonlights don't do anything for spawning:

http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2003-05/eb/index.php

"As prefaced above, and perhaps to the chagrin of many aquarists, the exact cues that are involved in mass spawning are not fully understood. Many aquarists erroneously believe that they will trigger mass spawning in their aquaria by putting a "moonlight" bulb above their tanks. Unfortunately, I fear this will not do much."

"Unfortunately for aquarists whose corals likely came from many different reefs, the use of a moonlight, even if cyclically dimmed, will probably not have much of an effect in triggering mass spawns in a tank, even if the tank has been temperature controlled for seasonal cycles, and even if the corals are sexually mature and fecund."

Tom Murphy categorizes moonlights in his article "Reefkeeping 101" as "Bogus Information."

The current ecotech software can be programmed to run the LEDs as low as you want, 1w for example, for a moonlight, if you insist, but it's only for your viewing pleasure. Not coral spawning. And I, personally, think it's bad for the fish and corals to not have pure darkness at night to sleep/rest.

Rainmkr, what kind of tank do you have and how many Radions?
My SPS have been browning out and I'm afraid if I raise the intensity any more, I'll cook my LPS. I'd like to run at 20k as I like the color better.

I have a 150g Marineland DD. 36"x36"x27". SPS tank w/ rics & zoas at the bottom.

I have a graph in another thread in here, but it's just 3pm-11pm w/ 4-10pm at 100% 12k, and 3-4 and 10-11 as ramp up/down from 0%.

I am happy so far. My SPS browned out initially too. But they are coloring up over the past couple of weeks. I actually started to see an improvement when I lowered my photoperiod from 8 hours at 100% intensity to 6 hours. I read somewhere that SPS can only absorb so much light at max intensity, and anything after they have absorbed all they can is too much/wasted. So if you just get the maximum they can handle, they will color up and grow the fastest.

How long have you had your radions? I've had mine over 6 months now, and I think there is an adjustment period as well.

I recently added the TIR lenses, so today my intensity is at 75%, but I plan on ramping back up to 100% over the next 5 weeks (5%/week).

The person that I go to for advice, and whose Radion-Lit tank is my "goal" is AcroporAddict (Dave). He is running 6 radions over his 300g DD. Here is a video of the tank: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-HQo8MeIoDM

Ive had mine for 4 months now and cant seem to find a setting that my SPS like. Im getting a PAR meter in today and will take some readings and post them. Meantime i will try a higher peak intensity for possibly 4 hours to start and see how the corals react.

when i set the 14k the Cool white , green and hyper Red is at 75% only the blue and royal blue at running at 100% . is that correct ?
