HAHAAA! That movie was TERRIBLE!dude just wait for a sharknado to take out a helicopter and they will land right in your pool. mission accomplished
You guys just have no vision, "damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!"
If your really doing this, please skip sinking anything in the pool and leave it bare. 1 scratch in the shark can kill it, not like putting a 20' shark in a small pool isnt helping much either.
That metal filter canister alone makes it a no go. First, the salt will rot it out in a very short time. Secondly, any metal exposure to the water will be lethal to sharks. At a minimum you would need to totally revamp the filtration system, not just to remove any metal components, to also upgrade the filtration to handle the needs of the animals. A quick off the cuff estimate, you will need to sink about 8 thousand dollars into the filtration system...that figure assumes your capable of performing the work yourself to plan the system and install it. Quadruple that figure if you need a professional like myself to do it for you. Should you want to discharge to the ocean, you will need permits from the DEC...not easy to get, especially for a private individual. It will be required to treat the discharge water, which will also require filtration systems for the effluent. As for shark species, stick to dogfish and sandbar sharks. As for "sting" rays, your stuck with skates locally.
If sharks were easy keepers, or if you could just fill a pool with ocean water and pump it through pumps designed for chlorinated freshwater don't you think a bunch of people would be doing it?
Why even bother having them in the pool in the first place? Viewing them will be difficult if not impossible.
The pool filter is rated for fresh and saltwater pools. My girlfriends parents wanted the option when saltwater pools were the fad. I used to work for the DEC at Lake Erie, I will have no problems getting any permits, if neccary. I was talking to a friend of mine from the DEC and he told me if I take a rehab shark he might be able to get me funding.
Dogfish sharks are cool. I am also a fan of the beer. I find skate eggs on the beach, can I hatch them? I also put a divider in the pool so I can build a refugium. Thanks for your advice.
Here is a preview of Sundays installment of my shark tank. Hopefully I can get the sharks in by the start of shark week.
:hmm2:  Indoor competitive pool.
