i got home today, and found that my approx. 4 inch peacock mantis had molted, and along with the shell, most of the rusty patches were gone! first thing i did was remove the molted shell, but is there anything else i should do before i start celebrating?

btw, i bought him knowing he had the disease, but i figured i should try and get him out of the 5 gallon holding tank at the store and into my 50 gallon so he can enjoy himself!

Sounds like you are doing most things correctly. Do you have a uv sterilization system. This can help cut down on reinfection.

well judging by this im going to be getting a UV sterilizer, a much better protein skimmer, some how get different lights other then the T5 normal output ones over the tank, i wonder if there is anything that isnt as intense?

Also is it bad for my female peacock (who is fed everyday to every other day) to have not molted for the past say 7-8 months?

im not too sure, the reason i ask is because she shows no signs of discomfort in her current shell and she isnt showing and signs of it being small because i dont see any stretching between the divisions in her tail, im going to be keeping a close eye out on her and im also going to be tearing down her tank and rebuilding it with an over flow and a sump because the closed loop just isnt cutting it
