Show me your large tank stands!

Being that mine is stuck between two wall (that I couldn't build it in to) I gave my stand walls so I could hinge the entire top and front.

Wlachnit, do you have a thread , if so i would love to see it , do you have a link to it

I don't as of yet. I had been meaning to start one ever since I started my build last spring. I do have pics, just need to find time to do it. I laso wasn't sure how interested people would be, so, I take that as a compliment. In the meantime, if you have a specific interest, I would be more than happy to fill you in.

+1 on starting a build thread.

Wood stands and their "covers" are so over-used they take away a lot f the aesthetic points for me. This one though is simply gorgeous.

very very nice stand excellent thought process- best I've seen.
I'll be doing something similar with my new tank.

Thanks!

I notice you have a drip/leak tray. Is it acrylic? looks pretty sweet! My stand bottom is siliconed up to a few inches high and next to the reeflo dart you will notice a 1" Cross T fitting protruding up from the floor. This was sunk into silicone then screwed in place. It drains to a basement drain. It's all about minimizing the risk of my wife murdering me =) The 2 side openings are for water in the stand and the top opening will be for my water change pump to empty the 20 gallon tank on the far left into the same basement drain while allowing the system to stay running. The 20 gallon tank will always have a small pump in it wired to a switch.

Lastlight- Do you have a picture of the canopy? That is one sexy stand. Did you design and build it yourself? I'd love to see more pictures.

Yeah I knew I wanted a tiled stand but didn't want to see hinges. This was my solution. The canopy is my next task. It will house 3 lumenmax elites and some t5. I need to buy all of it before i begin the aluminum work.

Looking good! Keep those posts coming.

One another note: I just received my LumenBright pendants that I was going to use for my frag tank and I was very impressed with the finish. That got me thinking - maybe I should consider just hanging these three lights over my main tank instead of building a hood. Does anyone have a larger free standing tanks (not in wall) that doesn't have a hood but open, hanging lights? I’ve seen them on nanos but wasn’t sure if they would look right on a larger tank with a wooden stand. So if you’ve got an example, post it and show off your lighting!

By eliminating the hood, it would help with the heat buildup and I think it would look nice.

Thoughts?
