Big or small, I want to see pics of under tank sump systems and associated accoutrements, i.e. Ca reactor, GFO, Phosban reactors, ATO, Refugium.

Toying with doing it under tank vs basement sump this time around to save on noise and energy.

Show me what you've got!

Here's some pics of my now defunct 75 w/ 29g sump. The drains empty into the lefthand skimmer chamber. Return was in the center chamber with a valved output to the 'fuge (righthand chamber). At one point, I was running a GFO reactor in the fuge.

I also wired the stand with switched outlets so that I didn't have to unplug things to turn them on/off.

From the sounds of it, you'll have a larger display, which will give you much more room to play with underneath.

Not shown in these pics is my ATO reservoir, which was a tall kitchen garbage can that was housed to the left of the sump.

Feel free to shoot me any questions or bounce off ideas.

here was my old under tank sum. as well as a storage bench that matched the stand that held my 2 part and ATO.

i would strongly advise against this route after gettign a look at the number that 3 years of water changes and 2 part storage did on my hard wood. at the risk of increased electric bills, i'll keep all that mess in the basement.

I would whittle out one of my "boys" with a spoon to be able to have a basement sump. Even with six square feet under my stand, the 75g sump, in sump skimmer, dual chambered reactor and closed loop pump take up all the room and its a total pain to work in...plus the water damage to the stand. Keep your basement set up in the new house, you'll regret it if you don't.

My 60g cube has the sump under..the 120g does not..Here are two of the 60g sump,pretty sure its a 20g sump

This is the view from behind the tank,it's pretty messy,I just took these shots lol sump intake on the left with the skimmer,small middle section with some cheto and the right pump section,this is where the mag.9.5 is and my pump for the reactors..The light on the side are my power controls,I can turn anyone off pretty easy using this..

The front view you can see my Kalk 5g bucket,my skimmers 1g drain overflow,my 2 phosban reactors and my dosing pump..Not much room in there to work,but I made some I also have a UV lamp I can hook up,if needed

I have a 55 under a 120 and me being 250 doesnt help but I struggle to work on things and do maintenance even though I built the stand as big as I could without looking dumb. I will put up some pics tomorrow its late and work is early.

Here is an older pic before I moved RO/DI and water makeup to the basement.Some other stuff has changed ,too ,but the basic idea of trying to figure a way to have everything in one location and readily acessable was what I needed to do.Sorta under construction with the first pic.

I don't have any pics but I had a 40B under my 90 and it was a royal PITA!!!!! If I set it up again it will be in the basement no question.

This is my 29 gal high under my 90 gal. Everything was cramped, tough to work on, and ruined my carpet. I'd rather have a basement sump and pay more for electric.

That's funny. I was looking at this and thinking how familiar it looks, and I realized that I am now running this tank! I actually like that everything is packed in. I can still access everything I need to maintain and it doesn't take up a lot of space. I'll put up some pics when I get home tonight.

I don't have any photos but have been right on the fence with this decision for my last two large tanks. Ended up under-tank for both. For a larger tank, it can save you a good 100 - 200w of continuous power on the return pump, and it keeps all the important stuff right there, accessible.

That said, I wouldn't do it under-tank unless I had basement, garage, or workshop space for less critical support systems - water mixing, frag tanks, salt storage, etc. It would really suck to have to cram all that stuff under a tank. . .

u know you're to ding dang big to be crawling around on your hands and knees. i'm sure u can set up a work station in the man cave. maybe hide it with japanese screen or whatever. once mama and the kids claim the space you will never see it again.

My setup. My ATO resevoir is around the corner (not under the stand). I also had my DJ switch panel under there for a while, but moved it to free up the space.

Heres a couple pics of our old 46Bow, w/ a 29G for a sump...working on a 90G w/ a 40B as a sump plumbed to the garage right now, and ill tell you what its not even up and running yet but so far im loving have all the mechanics of the tank out in the garage, alot less noise, cooler (our garage stays much cooler in the summer on those few hot days we get here), no water changes in the house anymore, plus just flat out more room to work around things.

Hey Chris and all, here's the same 90 gallon tank as above as it sits in my living room. Nothing changed underneath except that I upgraded the skimmer to a Reef Octo and added some chaeto. Up above, I removed most of the sand bed. Don't mean to hijack the thread at all (there's still a below the tank shot), I just thought it was cool to see the same tank.
