Sick fish?

Well I got the dreaded phone call this morning from home. My grandparents asked my Mom to drop by because one of my French anglefish didn't look right. She confirmed it has spots all over it. I'll be leaving for home shortly, hopefully I can get the thing to sit still enough to get picks, which is usually impossible.

<DD>Ok the day just went from bad to worse. :-( My fish is not looking good by far. My parents and grandparents had been watching the fish carefully, but it is difficult to tell sometimes when is normal fish scales and slime and what is an infection. They knew this morning though. I think it might be marine velvet, but need to look around. What do you guys think?

<DD>This either came from my Eel which I have had quarantined for 10 weeks now. I could have possibly used the same net or accidentally switched heaters with out washing them out enough or something. The other possibility is the purple tang which I recently added had it and was immune to it. The tank it came from also had a clown fish and some chromis which had been doing fine for a very long time, so I don't know. Investigating and researching now.

Coverage seems too much and too fast for ick, I think your right(velvet). If it was brook he would be dead by now and the other fish would be right behind him. I have antibiotics here at the house if you need them. Am off tomorrow morning till 2:30 if needed.

look to tuning up the bio filter. something is out of whack in the newle set up tank. or it hasnt fully cycled yet. and soak the fish food in some vitamins every day. I use a cup of fresh salt water, drop in the frozen BS and mysis, and add 5 ml of seachem Reef Plus. and or a few drops of some other vitamin concentrate. I have some boyd's vita chem right now. keeps the fishies immune systems and whatever up and running so they can heal up and don't get sick again. they say those bugs, ick and velvet, are always in the water, but healthy fish keep it from infesting them. its all in the mucous antibodies.

they were healthy before the move. so the problem is probably bio filtration.

If you want some non-antibiotic medication i'd plug one of my newer products. It is very effective from what I've heard from my accounts across my entire area. It is called lifeguard. If you have any questions or what-not drop me a pm. Good luck...I just lost a frenchy myself...(and no I didnt use lifeguard...)
