Smoothdog's 150DD build

Northerners and their handy basements. I wish I had the luxury. Us uneducated southerners can't have them :( Good luck moving forward with the build!

I don't know if it will help you at all but we waterproof things with red guard and waterproofing cloth. Maybe you could buil a nice wood "gutter" system around the lip of stand or something and waterproof it. And divert it down into a piece of PVC like a downspout???

Okay, so the new floor is in, now I just need to build a stand. The tank will be going where the cardboard on the floor is, but I can't seem to make up my mind how I want to do the stand. The lines will be going through the floor against the wall and will be at the corner of the stand so I was thinking about having double legs inset a little from each corner, I would also like to have only the legs touching the floor. The new flooring is bamboo and is pretty water resistant but if some were to spill on the floor and run under the stand it would be nice to be able to mop it up before it soaked between the boards and caused issues...

The new floor looks amazing.

This is pretty much exactly what I was thinking. I just didn't know for sure what I would use for the membrane. This stuff looks to be just the ticket since it's designed for use with tile. I have some extra paint from the stand but don't know how well it would do with the tile, it dries so glossy I'm afraid the tile would just pop loose.

You gonna angle the tank like that? If you have a hood it is going to be heavy to lift off. and it will be hard to automate.

So I was watching the tracking number for my delivery all day and at around 5:30 it was still showing that it was sitting in Earth City since the night before. Just when I commited to the fact that it wouldn't make it today Big Brown pulled up in front of my house. :D

So when he steps off the truck and hand my son a big shop-vac box, I'm thinkin' oh crap he gave him the wrong box! Well, long story short, it was the right box after all. So I start digging in and this pops out:

Then I found this :rolleye1: :

Nice looking skimmer. It surprises me how small that pump looks compared to my Sedra 3500. lolz

And how long are those hemostats? Talk about a lazy! :p

Awesome skimmer! I bought the space-saving version (pump inside). It came with the same neck cleaner but I can't use it due to the short stand. Great progress!

Good to hear, I might get a new pump down the road.

Im just happy with that new impeller atm. Its pulled more out in the 10 or so days Ive had it than the other one did in probably 5 months,no joke.

The sicce psk1000 has gotten really good reviews and contrary to the name pumps a lot more than the 2500. :hmm1: This is essentially the same as the SRO extreme version with the bubble blaster but for whatever reason it will work in deeper water. The SRO need to be in 6-6.5" and this can be 9-9.5" deep. I'm sure it has something to do with the impeller/volute design/pump rpms but don't know enough about it to understand/explain.

24" :D My new tank is 27" tall and I'm 5'7", do the math.

Thanks! I measured 3 times and researched until I was blue in the face :hmm1:, if this doesn't fit I'm gonna cry. I should have a little over 2" clearance to remove the cup for maintenance with the neck cleaner on. The SRO would have barely cleared without the neck cleaner by the time I would have raised it high enough to perform properly.

You just gave me a strange feeling of deja vu and hope.
Been staring at my tracking info which does not say 'out for delivery' but has been in earth city since yesterday afternoon.

Im also getting a vortech too so maybe i will have the ups guy show up unexpectantly here soon.
