Funny you say 3" is all it takes. Please tell some of the yahoos out here that. The 1st sprinkiling we had about an inch and they where out. Nothing against those who ride a sled, just not in the field across the street from my house at 2am...with a sled that needed a tune-up I think. I thoughtt the whole loud pipe thing was for bikes

1" is just going to have you in the dealer for a new Hyfax and won't cool the sled well. Most morons that go out that early just end up tearing the ground up. 3" is all I need this early in the year. The I&M doesn't even open unless we get at least 4", I live in the middle of nowhere so we bend the rules a little off the trail, but the trail is a No No up until that point.
