So do you have any changes or upgrades planned for your reef this year?

Like the title says do you have anything planned for your reef this year? I started my new rockscape yesterday because I need more real estate on the bottom for my ever growing Acan, Fava and Chalice collection. I'm going away from bare bottom and adding a course substrate. Doing that today as a mater of fact. More automation by adding some dosers or maybe a calcium reactor not sure yet. Not reef related but I also want to set up another 40B as a FOWLR for the non reef safe fish I want. And of course adding more corals lol. Oh and maybe a new camera so I can get some decent pics for a change lol.

i have at the moment 2 nanos but am debating on weather i should buy a custom cube 90 or a custom 120 i have marco rock cycling in a bin in the garage already and a deltec on standby jus undecided on tank?what would you guys say also have tenants on hold at a friends house purple tang chevron and achilies tangs a dusmeri and 2 tomini tangs all tangs range from 3 to 5 inches

Judging by your fish list i would say go big man I am thinking that with those tangs they may need a bit more space than a cube has to offer

Yep I don't think a cube will cut it either. You need somthing real big with a lot of length for swimming room and real big skimmer:thumbsup: Keep us posted.

lps1212 - I've seen dussumieri tangs in the wild and they get pretty big ~20", keep that in mind when you decide on tank size :)

As for me, 2011 better include getting my tank up and running (its only been 4-5 years in the works!)

I'm pretty much capped out on fish and corals at this time so I'm just going to work on a few equipment upgrades over the next year...wish list..

--2 mp 40's one for each tank..
--Neptune APEX LITE Aqua Controller
--A LED light fixture for my lps 120 to replace the crap t5 fixture I have on it now..

Yep thats pretty much my whole budget for the next year lol :(

- Swapping out the 46g acrylic freshwater tank in the basement for a 40b (want to try clowns/anemones)
- Finalize LED build for 75g
- Make some small LED builds for frag tank and testing (final goal to get a step-by-step tutorial on how to build them as well as long term results of LED use on certain types of corals)
- Arduino LED controller
- Arduino Reef controller (PH, temp, sg)
- ATO v2
- Acquiring a todds torch (and other rare ones for my "torch tunnel")
- Oh and getting my RO/DI unit installed

I think that's it. Definitely more focused this year on equipment rather than livestock.

Hopefully I will be in a new house with planning and tank by EOY.

My current tank wants:

- BM T02
- 2 X New MP40s

re: So do you have any changes or upgrades planned for your reef this year?

this year's mission: to find an inexpensive local source of magnesium chloride.

"MagFlake" or other brand using magnesium chloride produced by Dead Sea Works.

i would like to remove all electrical devices in my system.gonna go with an in line heater first, then i want to build a manifold with a external pump to run carbon, gfo,uv and such.
add another mp40 to get rid of last korila indisplay
gonna try to pay more attention to parameters, wich reminds me need to work on ph,its consistently around 7.8-8.0 . thinkin about tryin a co2 csruber.
as far as fish i would like to add a blue hippo, lepard wrasses, and some sort of schooling fish. thats all i can think of right now.sorry about any spelling kinda fogy yet didnt call it quits till about 3 this am . happy new year all, peace out . steve

Build a "practice" LED rig for my refugium
Using that experience, build a main LED rig for the tank as a whole.
Organize all my tank stuff in the stairwell behind the tank (the wife doesn't want to "see" it anymore ;))
Get an MP-10 up and running
Re-think my water supply. This will probably just be a brainstorming year, but I have lofty goals :)

Oh ya almost forgot I'm changing up my lighting. I’m going with an SE 250 watt Radium 20K on a lumatek ballast and VHO actinics on an icecap 660.

Replace my Yellow Tang that I found stuck to the powerhead this morning when the lights came on. :sad1:

From there, I'm either going to set up a Bio-pellet reactor, or start dosing vodka. Other than replacing my Tang (most likely with a Kole or Tomini), I may add a Leopard Wrasse and possibly a clam later in the year.

Is that it? I find it hard to believe that of all the people here only a handful have any upgrades or changes planned for 2011.
