ammonia could be used safey you use a cone the heats a small spot to heat the ammonia in the line and you make a condeser loop sys and then the ammonis starts to cool and it get cooled you put you extanger at the cooling spot. i just a pic to help

RV refgrators use to use a sys like this i think so still do

i use to work on Big chiller ...i am a welder ..

so you can add a ranch comtroler and a pump there ya go

problem # 1:

it only makes ice during nighttime. (ughh.)

Making ice only at night can be worked around. Thermal storage cooling plants use a similar idea, for different reasons (usually higher electric demand charges during the day versus at night). Same problem of space constraints though. Instead of making bags of ice, cool a glycol-water slurry. Then during the day, this slurry becomes the cooling source.
