Solutions needed to help prevent sand moving

I have one spot in my nano cube where the water from the powerhead hits the glass then goes into the sand, gradually making a depression at that spot while building up a huge hill in another.

I can't move the powerhead or angle its flow differently (its an mp10) and I've already lowered the speed at which it blows.

It doesn't create a sandstorm or anything, just grandually moves the sand (over the course of two or three weeks).

Are there any solutions I can try to help keep the sand where its supposed to be?

Without the obvious of getting some type of heavier sand, I don't see that you can. I have the same problem, too. Can't reduce the flow and the sand moves all over.

I did two things. First I have several different grades of sand in my tank which means the light stuff moved but the heavy stuff stayed in place. Ranging from crush shells down to sand lets things settle where they want while still allowing the critters to turn over the sand bed. The second thing was to place several pieces of live rock rubble in the high flow area. This deflects the flow and helps the sand stay in place. At least until my jawfish decided to move them.....

If people notice a bit of sand blown away, then you did something wrong with your tank! Most will concentrate on your critters especially if the rock and corals are also aesthetically pleasing.

Put a little rock in the spot where the sand is blowing so the PH blows on the rock instead.

thanks for the info.

And its not other people noticing the sand, its me, lol. I see the big mound/depression it makes and the corals/zoas I have on the sandbed that get covered and it bugs me lol.

I think I will try to find a small cupfull of heavier grained sand to place there. It is only in on localized spot and so I don't think I would have to have too much.

Thanks again!
