Sonicboom's 180 build in Tampa

A small seed or piece is all it takes.

How is the algae after removing the egg crate?

How is the temperature now? Still 57 degrees in the house? (hahahaha)

Lol, after the egg crate I blew out both overflows, and removed the sand from the fuge and vacuumed all the detritus from the sump so I can't confirm that was the cause. House is running at 79 when we are home and 84 when we are out, tank stays between 79 and 81. Lol vent air still coming out at 48. :)

I don't remember ever having any asterina's but I got a few frags from a guy last week and he warned me about them. His tank was loaded with them and they had stripped all his coralline.

thanks, I did more research last night and it seems the issue is they multiply until there is no more food, then all of a sudden the corals start looking tasty.. I guess it helps i stare at my tank sometimes for an hour or so, so when i see it again i will remove it just to be safe.

Or buy a harlequin shrimp and when they are gone buy some chocolate chip starfish for it to eat.

Blue linkias sometimes eat asterinas. There was a thread on the reef discussion forum about it a while ago. Honestly with asterinas some of them eat zoas, but most don't. If you get a wrasse you will never have a significant population of them because they will just get eaten.

I'm thinking that might be what happened, after i took the picture I placed it on a rock in plain sight of my two yellow wrasses, I haven't been able to find it since.

So just want to update, I got a deal on here for a brand new MarinePure 8x8x4 block, added it Thursday 8/14, hoping to see chaeto die off. It's a tight fit, i actually wanted to place it afte the last baffle and before the return but i need about one more inch of clearance to get it to fit.. it's getting fed from the refugium.

Thanks for asking! , was going to do an update after I got some colored ro tubing. But I installed the SmartBuddie ro booster today, big difference making water now. Seems like it's 1:1. Also installed the SmartAto which has been doing fantastic at maintaining salinity. Seems like everything is smart these days...lol

I also added a hydra 26 along with my other 3 hydras. Redid my rockwork, added a green bubble tip anemone that my clowns completely avoid...lol

Received some fantastic frags from a good friend Sunday which are getting acclimated to the lights. . Pictures coming tomorrow.

Here is the Hydra 26 next to the regular hydra in a makeshift rack. I plan on getting the new AI tank mount light stand.

With all your live rock, what is your thought of how this is going to work for you....

After reading a thread on the marine pure blocks possibly leaching aluminum, I removed it until further research.

The blocks certainly have their fans... but with your husbandry and live rock I wouldn't think it would do much for you....You should have plenty of space for bacteria in your system..... but hey maybe you were going to use for something else???

I saw a really nice piece of...call it light teal blue SPS...havent seen it before and found it at MW.... thought of you. Should have alerted you but I know you are looking for other colors.... Get the strawberry short cake yet?

Yes I was battling a bit of hair algae and seems to be low flow and detritus build up in my sump. I made some changes and seem to have halted its growth and now its turning brown. No strawberry shortcake yet... Definitely let me know if you come across those blues...lol

One of these days I will post some updates but I purchased some el cheapo power heads and put them on a timer in the sump... I have them come on at night and have them set up as a gyre...works great to keep the sump clean.
