When you say dosing bacteria, just what is that?

Could you give the name of the product your using.

Thanks

Sure thing: Brightwell Microbacter7

Thanks Sonny for the feedback. I'll start by seeding with MB7 first then start the vodka. Let the fun begin. :)

Sunny, so I don';t have to waste a bunch of time searching the thread, do you run GFO in your tank? I know some say its counter productive to a bacteria driven/carbon dose system. Just wondering your take...

Well, I dont run it myself but I do know a few people who run small amounts of it along with bacteria driven systems and they have great systems.

If you were to run 1/4 to 1/2 the recommended dosage of GFO and feed regularly and corals are NOT light you shouldn't have any problems.

hi sonny, had a question for you.

did you start dosing bacteria the same time you started ramping up your vodka dosing? or did you wait until your nutrient levels were low then started the bacteria?

your tank is very inspirational!

When you start Vodka be sure to start slowly and watch for any signs of stress on the corals. Your water will clear up and may cause some corals to lighten a bit.

Hi Sonny,

I am setting up a new tank very soon. How do you think a 4' length T5 work on a 5' tank? After seeing yours I will be switching to T5. I don' want to go 5' for lack of bulb choices.
thanks

If you keep SPS away from the unlit sides you should be ok. Maybe you can place some lower light corals in those spots.

Sonny - You light is 14" wide right? How do you find its back to front coverage over your 24" wide tank? I'm stuck in a debate over a 6 or 8 bulb ATI over my new 36"l x 24"w x 17"h shallow tank. The 6 bulb ATI is 13.5" wide and the 8 bulb is 17.5" wide. Tank will be mostly SPS but I'm sure some other corals will catch my eye eventually. What's your vote?

Will do. I couldn't find the MB7 locally so I had to order it online. Hopefully I can start early next week.

thin crust, I heard that Eyecandy in Garden Grove has it in stock. I have not check yet.

Sonny your tan is looking awesome. Thanks to your pic's I made my mind and switched to T5's. Now I just have to wait for the ATI powermodule to arrive.

Hello.

My fixture is 14"W and covers my entire tank very well. You really cant go wrong with either the 6 or the 8 bulb fixture you listed. You could go with the 6 and save some cash, or go with the 8 and have more bulbs options.

You can lose either way. :D

Thanks Mario, I'll give them a call. After reading Sonny's post on dosing bacteria/vodka along with the reefkeeping article, I feel much more comfortable trying it myself.
