i was sitting on the floor, adjusting my skimmer after doing a w/c in my 75g dt, i look up and i see...**drum roll**

MY YELLOW CORIS WRASSE!!!!!!!

the little stinker went into my dt about 6 weeks ago and this is the FIRST time i have seen him since! one of the hawkfish chased him back under a rock, his tail fin looked a tiny bit ragged but the rest of him looked fat 'n sassy and i'm guessing that is why i am seeing LESS FLATWORMS!!!

:bounce1::bounce1::bounce1:

so now, if the coris wrasse in qt does well and goes into my dt in a couple of months, i'll have TWO yellow coris wrasses buried in the sand. <a href="http://s6.photobucket.com/user/Ninapearl/media/smilies/roflmao.gif.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y203/Ninapearl/smilies/roflmao.gif" border="0" alt=" photo roflmao.gif"/></a>

Good for you! I love our pair and they're probably my favorite fish in our system. They are great pest killers as you are seeing as well. A good looking fish with a lot of function.

LOL, tony! when murphy's law presents itself around here, it's usually not a good thing!

are yours out and about and if so, how long did it take before they became social? the one in my qt is still buried. i put a small rock in there with a few flatworms on it and i'm putting a tiny bit of food in every couple of days to make sure he has something if he comes out when i'm not seeing it.

I love mine, he is always swimming around. Goes to bed around 9:30pm and gets up around 9am usually.

nope, not kidding! i hope he gets braver and stays out as he sure added a LOT of color!

When I get to my classroom every morning at 6 mine is already up cruising the tank. When I leave campus around 3-3:30 he's already tucked himself in for the night.

These are easily one of my favorite fish. Glad yours finally made his debut! :D

With two you should notice one get the lovely male facial markings pretty quick!

So my pair is now almost two years old, and they were sociable right away. It took them probably 1-2 weeks to finally get our lighting schedule right to wake up and go to bed at the right time.

Although, our male goes to sleep around 7PM when the blues come on heavy, and the female stays awake to prance around the tank with our Kole tang. I swear, there's something going on there, and they only hang out when the male goes to bed. They've always eaten well, and have survived my nitrate, and phosphate problems. Truly hardy fish that are a joy to have around.

What a naughty fish! :mixed:

i have added other fish since i've had the hawkfish and there was usually a little chasing for just a few minutes before they settled down. i'm hoping that will be the case here when the wrasse comes out to "test the waters".

peter, that would be cool. the new guy is still in qt and will be there for quite a while since i am not comfortable doing ttm with him as i think the stress might be too much for him.

If you do not already, feed frozen "smelly" food for a while such as PE mysis.

that's what i do feed and i dropped a little selcon-soaked frozen brine in thinking maybe some junk food would bring him out. ;)

I swear, there's something going on there

i have the same thing going on with my kole tang and red velvet fairy wrasse. they swim together often.

Congrats Nina, he heard you replaced him :)

haha! maybe that's it!

qt wrasse came out of hiding today.

i wasn't quick enough with the camera but the dt wrasse came out when i put some mysis in the tank. since the hawkfish were more intent on eating, there was no chasing. wrasse didn't stay out long but he got a few pieces.
