Amazing photos Franky. What is this one??

I have the same as this one. Really want to know the placement for it. I have it under high light with high flow and I don't have much green.

Many different reasons for that could be color combo of lights. Usually more blue than white deepens green at least visually if not physically. Try adding blues or actinic bulbs to the mix. Or it could simply be low phosphates not enough nutrients or lacking amino acids. Some people swear by acro power it's an amino acid.

Maybe it still need to get use to my tank. Just bought it 2 weeks ago. Hope it will color up . Will see a month later how it goes. If not I will try some amino acids. Thanks

How about a little camera and lens info with these shots?
What lenses are people using to get such close macro shots without having there gear underwater?

These aren't quite macro shots as I'm limited by my camera, but thought I'd share--

Cannon G3 4 megapixel, no macro lens

I shoot everything in RAW..........top down shots hand held.

Front shots-- Tripod.......keep lens perpendicular to tank glass and all flow is off for all shots.

I try to limit or block all ambient lighting.

I don't have specific shutter speeds....I have a lighting meter that tells me by 1/3's just before shots and I use that. Usually at -2/3 limits most or all glare.

Most pics are 5.0

Question for you guys who do top down shots... how do you handle bulb reflections on the water surface? With my halides it is quite difficult to get a clean shot with no reflections unless I hold my spare hand up and block the light from hitting the water surface where my lense is pointed - and that makes it quite difficult to hit the shutter button lol!

1. Use a top down viewer box - your camera lens is basically covered by the viewer box/cylinder and goes beneath the waters surface.

2. Use a Circular polarizer - attach to the front of your camera lens and it effectively blanks out the light reflecting back from the halide...BUT it does cut down light by at least 3-4 f stops.

Great pictures folks!! I am used to using a Sony point & shoot but I just got a new Nikon but I am having some difficulty because it's smarter than me.
Can't seem to get things in focus very well -

Just for brightness or sharpness occasionally. Most of the time I take 6 or so pics of the same shot with minor changes so I don't have to do it as much.
