Blue Tort again with A. horrida (left) and some sort of wild A. Samoensis trying to color up (right). Also some lighter colored frag in between there that I never ID'ed:

Blue-Green Tabling Acro. I believe this is A. plana:

another A. Plana:

in this pic of the a. plana, there is a fuschia-pink mille above and to the right, and a blue mille below that. To the left of the blue mille is another thick branching blue stag that I never ID'ed:

Everyone-
thanks for kind words.

Lunchbucket-
look for me every once in a while in the sellers forum :)

fishypets-
i never know what kind of a tort it was. is there a distinguishing characteristic to know the Oregon from the others? this one has been growing from a 1 to 1.5" frag for about a year and a half or so.

mike ny-
you know, I have yet to get a full tank shot that I think looks good. last time I took pics of some of my colonies and posted them was about 2 months ago, and someone back then asked me for full tank shots as well. The pics I took back then are in this thread:

The tank really looks about the same right now anyway.

johns,

That is the Oregon Tort. Where in the tank is it positioned? What lighting is it under? I have two separate colonies that grow fairly decent under high light with moderate flow.

oregon? i would have said it looks like an echi-gomezi-nata. i've never seen such tubular coralites on what people are calling 'torts'.

I can't get the colors on my pics to come out, but this is an Oregon tort that's been growing for over a year. It seems to be SLOWLY getting thicker and putting downa base. Remember the colors DON'T do it justice, This is it now:

This is what it looked like when I first got the frag in 2004:

I agree fishypets, I have the same acro and it looks just like my Oregon tort. Very nice collection of corals!

Regarding the tort vs. echinata, I dont exactly know. I only know this was called a tort when I bought it. That may not mean a lot. I kind of thought gomezis and maybe echinata had a lighter coloration usually. Again, that may not mean a lot.

This coral has been very high up almost directly under Phoenix 14K DE HQI lamps through most of it's growth. There was short time under T5s for a few months up front. And a couple months ago, I switched to Ushio 14K just out of curiosity.

Someone asked about the Ca reactor - I dont have one. I may need to get one eventually, but I am resisting buying any more equipment until I upgrade to a larger tank, which may be in a year or so. In the meantime, I have been experimenting with getting a tank like this to work by other methods - namely using kalk for 1.0 - 1.5G/day of top-off and dosing 2-part Ca and Alk buffers. But quite frankly, I admit I can not keep up with Ca demand anymore. It seems to stay at 340-350 or even a bit less unless I do some major adjustment every couple/few weeks. Recently, I started making my own 2-part solutions and bought a auto doser to start adding it slowly throughout the day. So now I'm not afraid to dump LOTS of this stuff in. I'm going to give this a go, and see how well it works.
