St Jude Tank teardown Saturday 4-22-06!

You gotta be effing kidding me! That's what the guy was doing with 15 grand? Scratch that. That's what the guy was doing with 1 grand. I guess he kept the rest at the house.

Alright yall. Saturday was an awesome time! We had a bunch of members show up (I say bunch because i didn't get a head count) and those tank rooms are looking fantastic. I'm fairly sure that the Jones' took the left room alone and polished that place up nice. If they had help I don't want to leave anyone out so thank you too. Everything went smoothly and a special thank you goes out to everyone for all their help. There were a couple bumps in the road (mostly because I was LATE and didn't get everyting ready before hand like I planned). Moving the fish went swimmingly. Richard, Mr. "Don't even try to out do me!", hand caught the grouper and boxed it. Jennifer, Willem, and I got the angel and tang out of the other tank. Everyone pitched in where it was needed and we got that tank down and cleaned up spotless in what... about 4 hours? Great! I didn't get any pictures so I waited to post till there were a couple up here for reference. I asked Vicki to go with Sanford and Scott to drop the fish off at the zoo and they wound up getting the grand tour of the aquarium at the zoo. I did call Chris (my zoo buddy) later and he said everyone is happy and on display now (except the dogface and the grouper). Hopefully Vicki will get some pictures on RC before too long. I'll be turning in the applications I have recieved today but feel free to submit more if anyone wants to volunteer at St Jude for the maintenance. Richard, (possibly Dustin) and I will be plumbing up the filtration this Saturday, and the next phase will be to get sand and rock in the tank. That might also be a member assisted day aswell with moving sand and rock. More to come on that end. Well everyone, Thanks so much for the hard work and we'll see where this project goes in the weeks to come.
P.S. If you do have corals to donate to the St Jude tank please hold onto them. I don't have anymore room.

Congrats all. What is this security form and where should I go look for it?
I posted a link to the form in one of the other St Jude threads here. I really can't remember which one. you can also go Here and click on the link to fill it out. Be sure to fill out all information and fax the application to me at 901-495-5231 Attention Barrett Shumaker. We're submitting these applications separately so they are given special treatment.
Phase 2 will begin this weekend. Richard and I (and possibly Dustin and Scott) will be plumbing up the tank and begin filling it. Rock and sand is coming later but having all of it together would be nice. I'm going to try and get a specialist (retired curator for the Memphis Zoo Aquarium) to come in for consultation on rock scaping and a fish species list. He was really interested from the get-go to get his hands wet (retirement is already getting to him)so I'm keeping him abreast of whats going on. I'm working on Richard to update the club website St Jude section. And thats about it yall. I think the next big St Jude get together will be for the rock and sand. I also will update the directions for St Jude enterance since I discovered that the origional path had you going through security locked doors and parking a little too far away. More to come.

Well everyone, we have another score for the St Jude Project. As previously stated, the kind people at Aitwaterice.com donated a Typhoon III (with purchase of one TyphoonIII) and all the bells and whistles to get it hooked up and running! And I can tell you that the III is really nice. Its got a built in water pressure gauge and comes with all the necessary hook-ups and a hand-held TDS/Temp tester!
Well now we'll have two Reefkeepers! Digital Aquatics has donated a Reefkeeper with purchase of one Reefkeeper! I hope to get this next week.
I would like to personally thank everyone for their donations (Company's and individuals alike). Its people like you that really keep the spirits up. And I know that these children will love their new tanks when their up and running. Thank you again for all your support.

Alright everyone. I have to get this taken care of and I really need your participation. For those of us that showed up for the St Jude Tank Tear-down we have some business to discuss. Joe and Dawn donated $25 (to be used for a Gift Certificate) to be given to the club member that worked the hardest and showed the most initiative. I have been wracking my brain on this and I have finally decided to have a secret ballot. Because I wasn't there the entire time and I think everyone did a fantastic job I just can't rightfully (in my own mind) pick one over another. I thought about dividing it up but that just won't work out. So heres what I want from yall. First, would everyone like the $25 in the future to be given as cash to put tward whatever the winner wants. Or would everyone like it to be as a gift certificate, and if so would you like it as Food or for a Local Sponsors store? And secondly, I would like everyone to PM me their choice as to who should win the $25 for this past group effort. I'm looking for someone or group (if it was a couple, married or related, or individual) who went above and beyond what was asked of them, who really put the effort in and made an impact on that day, and yho you thing should be rewarded for it. Please don't be shy and thank you.

I vote that future moneys go to buying drinks and snacks for everyone that helps. A cold drink and an ice cream sandwich would help the energy levels during work.

As for the money you have now... you have a PM.

I think the money should come to me.

It would be impossible to calculate the amount of grief and mayhem that would have been caused by my presence.
So my not being there actually contributed to the overall success of the operation as a whole.
So as I have no intentions of ever attending any of the St.Jude functions you may just send me all of the cash prizes and save yourself the brain "whacking" by declaring me the the once and future winner of all said contests.

A annual lump sum will be fine.

An annual lump sum of $25...you really are a cheap date.
What could I get for $50?

That would be $25.00 for everytime I don't show up.

As to the $50.00 for our date, send that as well because I'm not showing up for that either.

We went through this at work. It turns out the best way we found to 'award' the $$ was to get a prepaid mastercard or visa. I think you can get the from Wally-World. That way it goes toward what ever the victim...er...wiener wants.
