Wow... that is great!

Very nice work

Cheers :D...
I'm currently working on one that's more focused on the aquarium side of things than the "ClubHouse" side of things, so we'll see how that one goes :)...

This might seems a little "cheesy" but I decided to create a lil' logo.
Hope you don't mind me using this pic, Marc. I can get rid if you do. ;)

Awesome :D! It's a ClubHouse logo trend, lol...

I'm designing the sump for my next tank and just wondering what y'all think of it.

I think I'll use Spaflex for the drain and PVC for the return.

Looks good as a first sketch up. I can't even remeber how many sketches I went through before I decided on my final design.

Scott may though, as we had conversations about each and every one of them

A few things:

- Ball Valves (return line... just in case you need it, drain line... control/divert flow to fuge)
- I wouldn't drill your sump, just have the intake pipe empty beneath the water in the skimmer section.
- I would use a 90 degree output on the return in the tank. My 45 degree blew sand all over, and forced me to switch to the 90.
- Any particular reason for the "step down" to the fuge? Elbows create bubbles and noise.
- Along those lines, I would use 45 degree elbows instead of 90's wherever you can.

Awesome --- is it okay if I make this into an avitar and use it.

I think we all should then it will be easy to spot a clubbie

Dang, forgot to include those, I'll redo a sketch and include a few extra things.

I was contemplating keeping the sump undrilled which I think is the best so I'll have to incorporate that in the 2nd sketch too.

- I would use a 90 degree output on the return in the tank. My 45 degree blew sand all over, and forced me to switch to the 90.
I'll go with the 90 then, Wouldnt want sand all over. :)

- Any particular reason for the "step down" to the fuge? Elbows create bubbles and noise.
That was just for the sketch I will use pipes going directly to it rather than the "step down".

- Along those lines, I would use 45 degree elbows instead of 90's wherever you can.
Ok I shall try put those wherever I can.

Thanks for the help, TJ.

Its an excellent design but if I had to make a suggestion I would remove all the bends in the drain line to the refuge and but a ball valve on there to control the flow to it.
I am assuming with all the bends that you are trying to slow down the flow?

No worries Kane. I thought I recognized my fish. :)

The sump looks fine to me. Looks like the "F" from my site. Be sure to leave a spot for a bubble tower where the water enters the skimmer section.

Yeah, I've always used that design because it's simple and always worked the best for me. If you saw the thread on my 55 I did the same design too but didn't have enough space to put the bubble tower for the skimmer that I wanted and I didn't have any acrylic left at that point so I thought I could use a micron sock aswell. I think I might use the same sump seeing as the 55 was never filled and now it will just be a 29g the skimmer will be smaller which will leave me more space for the bubble tower. I'll have to sort some things out and I'll see what I can fit in it. ;)

I'll try but I'm not sure if it will be readable so maybe I'll have to create it as a square so things will fit a little better.

I tried but when it was resized to the avatar size the writing was undreadable.
I think its the colours of the picture with the writing that clash.
Here is one I quite liked.

The bends was just for the sketch, for some reason whenever I tried to do a straight line it didn't let me so I just had to do boxes instead, I'll work up a new sketch once I get the dimensions I need.

:eek2:

Now that's a clean sump!!

I need to give my sump a scrub-down. It is funky and hasn't been really cleaned since it first went on line, either. :o

Pete and I just scrubbed down our apartment and shampooed all of the carpeting (wall-to-wall... remind me when we build our house to get hardwood and ceramic tile!!), I think it's time to scrub down the sump next! :D
