Starting a 240 Gal Cube Tank

roushboy2857 - Thanks!
Well everything is doing well now after my Ich outbreak. I have only seen one little spot so the UV sterilizer must be helping. All the remaining fish are doing well. My coral are SPS are starting to encrust over the putty I used to mount them and are really starting to color back up now that the water has cleared up. I do have a small microbubble issue that is driving me crazy. I moved my chiller into the closet behind the tank and I wonder if some air is trapped in the chiller or UV sterilizer? I can't figure out where air would be getting in. It is definitely the return line though. Oh well, just another reason to tinker :)

Just an idea Chet,
But, check your sump bulkhead at your dart. When we slid the sump out of the way of the hinges, maybe we tweaked the silicone at that bulkhead hookup and now your sucking a little air there.

also, clear your pm box

Scott, that is a possibility but I would see some air bubbles and so far after checking there I don't see anything. And my box is cleared.

Yes and no, my Reefkeeper 2 needs to be sent in because when I plug in the normal stuff (lights, chiller, heater, pumps) it blows the fuse and the last time it melted the fuse inside. I guess I was over the allowed wattage. The GFI outlet was the easy fix. I've just been so busy I haven't had time to send it in yet. You got my paypal right?

Yeah, I got the paypal, thanks.
Do you want me to come by this weekend and give you a hand getting the reefkeeper out of the frame? I know it could be a little tricky. Just let me know

Sorry if you've mentioned this before, but do I see two juvinile Pomacanthus in there?

If so, which species are they?

No it's a Chrysrus angel. and just one. he is cool but nips my lps. scott, I just need to replace the surge protector part not the display, thanks though.

wow been folowing this thread along even before i was a member. when i get my house next year i plan to go for something like this chetm2. But i have a questions do you have any regrets on your closed loop or would you of been hapier with a couple of wave boxes. Also i know tangs need free space to swim in and would they do fine in a 48 x 48? because i love tangs and if they dont maybe ill go with a 60 x 48 x 24 with a 32in steel stand (i am 6'6 and i really hate my FBH only sites on a 29 inch stand Hurts the back when i sit and watch it.

Not to answer for some one else, but I took the ideas from this thread and had a similar setup built for me. Best decision I made was to go with the stand at 42" in height. Great viewing and lots of room to work with under the tank. My new 10 foot tank is being built with a 42" steel stand, can hardly wait!

savethereef - if money and space weren't an issue I would of went with a 8' x 4' x 30" tank. I would of had to upgrade and add lights though and the extra $ and electrical just wasn't practical. The stand height would of been nice at 42" like goodwin9 suggested but I barely got mine (36") in the house. I'm 6'3" and I do have to bend down a little to look in but not too bad.
Well I added some more fish to the mix. A magnificent foxface, a male lineatus, a good size regal angel and 2 purple firefish. Not all at once, but over the last few weeks. The foxface has been a model citizen so far, he follows my Chrysurus Angel around and eats the hair algae off of the rocks. The regal is bigger than the Chrysurus and so far he likes to hide in the cave in the back of the tank. He isn't a wimp though, he has kicked the Chrysurus out of his hiding place and will chase him around a little. The 2 purple firefish and the male lineatus I just added tonight so I hope they acclimate well. I can't seem to get a good picture of the regal or the firefish but I'll keep trying :)
Here is the Male Lineatus

And my favorite viewing position with a beer (not seen) :)

The Regal was out tonight for a little bit and I got a couple of pictures, it looks like it has the beginning of the white cauliflower like stuff on it's rear fin. I had a queen angel that got it and I remember it was a pain in the rear treating it. Any tips?

niloc16 - thanks, no the Queen Angel was in a FOWLR tank I had years ago. I guess they would nip clams, and lps. Kinda like my Chrysrus does now ;(

Awesome tank!!!!!!!!!!

Questions:
on your RedSea ozone generator - how do you like it?
do you use ozone reactor or injecting ozone in skimmer?

TekCat - Sorry for the slooow response. The ozone works great, really helps polish the water. I have it running into the venturi on my skimmer. The ORP probe needs to be cleaned almost weekly to keep an accurate reading though.

Well I got a Canon 100mm F/2.8 lens for christmas so I've been trying to get some decent Macro shots. Heres a few I've got so far.
