Anyway, I unfortunately cannot find the pics of the Japanese mixed reef stocked with dozens of them. Very inspirational in deed.

Just MUST make sure to get the right ones. Most of what is commonly sold in the hobby are NOT true shoaling fish. And it seems that the "good" ones do not ship well. I tried like heck to get a nie school but gave up after two horrible failures.

I am sure I will try again.

No they are not hard to get

That is a good news. :D look like i will get a LARGE SCHOOL of that then....

I had a school of 8 Apogons in my office tank for more than a year. About 2 months ago we started noticing some damage to their fins, and gradually, 1 by 1, they went missing until none were left. I believe one of our larger fish developed an appetite for them, and they were easy prey. They were very beautiful and always schooled together but I don't think I'll add new ones, since they would surely turn into another meal. I'm not trying to discourage you from getting them Steve, they're great fish, just sharing my experience.

Mike, thank you for sharing. My main concern is the flow i have in the tank. Will they be able to handle the amount of flow that i have? I will have 4 6305, 4 waveboxes, 3000gph return....

I heard if you feed your fish everyday, you can avoid fish eating fish

You think the flow in your tank will exceed that in the ocean? Don't worry about that, they'll be fine.

You made a joke but you know, you could be right. Our office tank is not fed on the weekends, so that very well may be what happened. Bummer!

Mike, what fish do you have in the office tank that could possibly eat other fish. I don't remember you mention triggers or eels...

I tried to get 18-20 orange-lined cardinals for my tank and the company ordered a group of 30, none survived the quarantine period at the store and a second batch of 40, of which 3 survived. It was so frustrating I finally got a shoal of anthias. My only regret is that I only got three. I wish I would have got 5 or 7;)

Mr. HOP, what type of Anthias do you have? Do you have to feed 3 times a day?

Steve. are you looking for easy anthias? I would recommend Bartletts or squamipinnis. I currently have 6 bartletts and 7 squamipinnis. I feed them once a day and they are all fat/happy.

We have male and female blue-throat triggers, and they're both pretty fat.

Here are pics from my tank. First is a Green chromis. Second is Blue/Green chromis. Third pic is from the 470 where you can see most of the group of Blue/Green chromis.

I'm running a H&S A300-3X1260 skimmer on the 600. I'm not trying to say that 100 fish isn't possible, but more the size of the fish that make up the tank should determine the total. The comment I hear the most when someone looks at my tank for the first time is the number of fish that I have in the tank. 100 fish are a lot of mouths to feed. I shut off all four pumps when I feed the tank so that there isn't any water movement to make sure that they are eating all I feed.

I'll count the number of fish I have in my 470 tomorrow for you. It's been a while and I really don't know how many I have in that tank.
WOW...after a head count in the 470 which wasn't easy, I was surprised that I came up with 73 fish. More than I thought that I had in the tnak.
